The $7 bn was purely transmission lines and equipment,... no generation capacity expenditure.

Really ?, in 2013, Texas invested us$7.0 Bn in upgrades to the electricity transmission (grid) system ?

Re: So I flubbed up and accidentally ordered a 36v battery for one of my 48v TSDZ2. Best thing to do in this situation?

If you are a tech geek....you could reprogram the software voltage limits on your motor controller to allow the 36v pack to work. There is a looooong thread on how to do that in the “Non hub motor” section. BUT the lower voltage will mean less performance..power, speed and range. Personally , i woul...

I learned a lot yesterday, looking into the Power plants. Learned that we don't use Texas coal and do not make very much solar, wind power. ...... As they used to say in the north of England... ..” Trouble ‘t’ mill”... Inevitable really !.. German news site iwr.de here reports that the expansion of wind energy in Germany has “come the a stop” as the government has scaled back subsidies and enacted stricter permitting laws. “As in April 2019, o...

One island made the news tonight, (they use diesel generators at night and panels and wind turbines during the day) moving to all EVs to power the island at night. Which “island” is that ? Im not aware of any island, being totally reliant on wind/solar even just for daytime. How does an island have...

That was one reason i suggested using a higher power/voltage rated motor ...
Another being the efficiency/heat build up if you use a 500W motor to regen at 5x its rating

Re: Gonna get a used model S

I'm starting to see model S's 60 and 85 starting to dip into the low $30k number. A mid range 3 would set me back about 40 so not really my kinda price point but I could do $30k. I'm hoping to buy about a year from now... Maybe long range 3's will be that low of a price on the used market? Yes,..a ...

..... I am thinking about use a 500W 12V hub motor at 5X the nominal speed to get 2500W, it is very big motor, i think 2500W is not problem if it spin 5 times faster. Why 12 volts ? ....you will be dealing with high amperage . 48 -60 v would be more practical. Also check the efficiency of the motor...

That is how the consumer society works, the more you consume, the more manufacturing flourishes and the economy grows. And the environment dies. Think East Germany, before unification, or China before they discovered their own “hybrid Capitalist/Dictatorship. The “free Market” is self regulating. N...

As Dogman said, its all about stability/handling and safety. Frames can crack or break even with one rider, the risk is just greater with more weight on board. That's like saying that no bicycle is designed to be ridden uphill because it puts far more stress on the rear wheel and cassette. There is indeed more stress - but bicycles are in fact designed to be ridden uphill, and design margins are chosen to accommodate that. Even if the chain/cassette would...
