Re: best shock type for rear hubs?

I don't think you are asking the right question. Any "control" of a hub motor will be a function of the rebound damping for unsprung weight, not so much the compression damping and bicycle shocks are not designed the deal w/ the extra weight of the motor in rebound. Having said that, I wou...

Re: Accidental ebike newbie with controller and battery questions

Seeing as I'm just dipping my toes into the ebike world and want to keep cost down for now.... But you want to buy a $70US controller that forces you to buy an expensive display and there's freight on top of that??? The PSW Power link I provided sells the same controller for $19. And they offer the...

Re: Accidental ebike newbie with controller and battery questions

My first hub motor was a MXUS like that one (over 10 years ago) and it was great. Aside from a added sensor, I doubt it has changed. I used to run it at 20 Amps and 48 Volts, but had it as high as 25 Amps and 56 Volts. That was a bit much, as that much power would hammer (make it knock) the poor mot...

Re: What about electrifying a StreetStrider? Pros and cons?

The kayak was super simple, I copied this idea; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xa-XJ5G9vU Running a LiPoly pack of 12S (around 46 Volts)/10,000 mAh thru a golf cart converter to feed 12 Volts to the motor. No throttle, on/off, low/high. Doesn't need much power, the hull maxs out around 4 or 5 MPH,...

Re: Upgrading controller and battery advice

Can I upgrade my battery/controller to either a higher voltage (48v) and/or higher amperage without damaging the motor? If only one of these can be fulfilled to protect my motor, which one would be my best bet? Yes you can. I can't ID exactly which Bafang your motor is by that engine code, but I su...

Re: Can you replace axle shaft?

On that motor, it's a one piece axle and to get it out a gear puller is used, but it's very difficult and might require heat. There are dis-assemble vids, but few go that far. There's one on the net where a member here, spinningmagnets took an Ezee geared motor apart(he may chime in). But it's proba...

Re: Bafang front wheel Uber motors - which controller

I have plenty of 36V 12A controllers, That's probably about right for these motors when frt. mounted. I've run several different PSW P. 20 Amp controllers and at 48 Volts, that set-up just feels like a little too much. My long travel forks go thru their range of travel at a touch of the gas and w/ ...

Re: Truckrun 250w hub + ZNZK Controller

Ok, now all you have to do with the PAS is turn the sensor around (180 degrees) on the bracket. only one of the screws will line up, but it's enough to hold it place.
You MUST install a torque arm. If the axle spins in the drop-outs, it will ruin the bike,...and your day.

What about electrifying a StreetStrider? Pros and cons?

https://www.streetstrider.com/products/streetstrider3i My electric kayak is done. My latest ebike is almost done(for a while anyway:) I've run out of things to electrify. Not much in the way of detailed spec.s on the StreetStrider. It has a 20 inch rear whl., so maybe something like a Q75 or Q85 hub...

When all is done and if the bike feels too tall for her (w/ shock set to lowest), you can buy a cheap, used 24" whl and tire for the rear.

Re: Bafang front wheel Uber motors - which controller

Well, the Jag35 motor/wheel is a smoking deal. Just to give folks out there an idea, I priced out what it would cost to build the same thing (except black motor) for a rear wheel mount. Shopping around, This is about the lowest cost I could come up with (prices include shipping); SWX02 -$160 Rim and...

Re: Bafang front wheel Uber motors - which controller

Sounds like the Bafang "Jump" is not the right motor/whl. for her. Asides from the issues you mentioned, the SWX02 is a big and fast motor.
If you search back in my recent posts, there is a thread on building a kid's ebike.

Re: Bafang front wheel Uber motors - which controller

I just built an ebike w/ that motor. You can search my posts, but I have a gd. choice for a controller from a store where you can get the perfect torque arm and some other little things all from the same place. Normally I would say no suspension fork, but these TA's fit really tight and you can use ...

Re: Need help for Dual Motor setup

As far as ign. switches/ Voltmeters go , that's a nice one. You could use it as "switch only turns on/off Voltmeter" (no run/no run circuit). The first Voltmeter I used was was a LED digital like that, but I quickly found out if if it wasn't switched out of the circuit, it would deplete my...

Re: Need help for Dual Motor setup

I never used an ignition switch, as it really isn't a theft deterrent. My ebikes that have been stolden weren't driven away. But I do use better locks these days. If you lose the ignition switch, you will be there, right? You won't need the Voltmeter (is it a real V.meter or a row of LED's?), becaus...

Re: Which throttle wire is which

If the throttle doesn't work by simply plugging the two connectors together, you will have to cut one side, rearrange the wires and solder them back on, so you can use sm wire nuts and just try different combos till you find the one that works. Once, I hit upon a combo where the bike tried to take o...

Re: Truckrun 250w hub + ZNZK Controller

Also, the motor looks like a copy of a Bafang, which is usually the case. The free whl. with a 14T sm gear is going to useless to pedal along @ anything over 15 mph. You will not be able to pedal fast enough. You need one w/ a 11T gear, or at least a 12T. And the spokes will need to be ck'ed for tig...
