Re: Specialized Stumpjumper conversion recommendations

Thats gotta suck, walking home with a non operative ebike it does regardless of bike and the further away the more it sucks. The other thing I have never understood is the logic of having the seat raised up to elbow height or beyond. In the referenced video there is a sequence of the dude going up ...

You don't necessarily need a derailleur to have a rear motor.
LOL ... that can not legally be ridden on the street

Side note:
In your previous post, that "second" picture of the battery pack looks more like a Pregnant Guppy than a Shark.

Re: Hybrid road bike ebike conversion

Someone like Liveforphysics could probably enlighten us were he so inclined, but I don't think the extra weight up there was helpful in that regard, sprung or not. I could be wrong however. I abhor derailleur systems so you will likely never see me building a bike with a rear motor. Having said tha...

To the best of my knowledge this is the standard pin-out and color code for Julet 9 pin cables:

Re: Sparks flying: are my battery or charger damaged? Please help

It is basically a DC power supply. That is ALL the really cheap ones are. If you are lucky they may add in a Red and Green LED. Best advice is use an in-line power meter between the charger and the battery. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FYHTBD2 At least then you will have some id...

For the other two, the captain has to shout "Brake!" and hope the stoker can hear over traffic. Might want to add some brake lights 8) Some people making 12 Volt LiFePO4 (4S) batteries just use standard 12 Volt Lead Acid chargers. The biggest difference is the float charge. A SLA battery ...

Lithium Cobalt (aka Lithium Ion) Lithium Iron Phosphate have different charge phases, voltage, etc.
Ironically LiFePO4 is simpler and much closer to Lead Acid than than to LiCo in that regard.

Re: Front Hub DD motor identification.

Latest Chinese firmware strategy is to ignore that particular parameter. They are routing the "throttle" through the PAS system ( even if the PAS hardware is NOT installed ). The PAS system ' automatically ' determines the required amperage. The only way to control the power levels is sett...

I have just bulked up the fork dropouts to be 8mm wide. Hopefully they will handle the power.
That could not hurt.
Might want to consider "bulking up" the pivot point as well.

Well if you use a charger with the correct voltage and still have the problems that you spoke of then I suspect you are going to have to put it under the knife.

Re: Lifepo4 36v Battery - did I ruin it?

After all that I do my research. Turns out, as you all knew, you need a special charger for a Lifepo4 battery. Not really special but you do need the correct charge voltage. Fortunately LiFEPO4 batteries are harder to ruin than typical Lithium Ion cells. You actually need to provide a bit more info...

Im using PETG for all my battery cases. It has been working OK so far. I have not tried (or researced) ASA yet. Maybe I will have to hit google. Is it something new? Most of the stuff I read about when learning how to 3d print was either PLA, ABS or PETG. ASA is the modern replacement for ABS minus...

Re: CF or Glass Fiber over PVC Pipe

Someone used to sell a type of plastic tape to wrap around hand layups such as this. It had a grid of pin holes for the excess resin to seep out as the tape applied pressure to the surface of the workpiece. I have not seen that available for some time. Perforated shrink tape https://shop1.r-g.de/en...

What’s the plan for the frame structure?
You are looking at it.
A standard bike frame sounds best.
A lot less work/risk/(possibly money as well) to just purchase a "standard bike frame"

Re: CF or Glass Fiber over PVC Pipe

Tubes would likely be useful for the first layer before anything is joined together. Once there are joints involved I would agree that hand layup is likely more beneficial. Hand layup also allows one the build in extra layers for example on the top and bottom as well as joints. Price wise, glass is ...

I think that you will find that current trends are toward controllers having display especially at the lower end of the scale. They need some method of setting various parameters such as wheel size or PAS level. Also some manufacturers are designing their controllers to always use PAS ... even if th...
