Re: TIG welding battery strips

Curious on if those “cold welders” would work. Realizing they are just really a micro tig spot welder not really. they are too "violent" for the really senstive work as they give too hard of a pulse. its like tryng to close a glass door with a swing of a sledgehammer. personally i prefer ...

Re: Charging LTO at Max Speed?

i am still missing WHY you need to recharge in less then 15 minutes after consuming ~1kWh of energy. it would seem that increasing the battery size would decrease the need for such a charging need. Because it's awesome to recharge that fast, and I don't want a shit battery that wears out in 3 years...

Re: Charging LTO at Max Speed?

As I said, there is no specific usage in mind. Broadly speaking it will be used like any other ebike/escooter, to get around. So yes it's a fun project meant to see what could be made to take advantage of the properties of LTO, but the goal is to have something useable. 1: what would your vechicle ...

Re: Charging LTO at Max Speed?

i am sorry, but is you goal to make something actually useful or just a experimental setup as a hobby to play around with over the weekends? or an experimental thing that you might want to use properly? this is important. i see a lot of people that see 1 or 2 things about a certain battery chemistry...

Re: Running parallel battery pack. I need help please.

i doubt you will get beyond 150 cycles with your planned setup. especially if you dont compress the batteries in a frame.

the C rating on those batteries is fictional. please ignore.

Its best to start a new thread for your situation.

Re: Running parallel battery pack. I need help please.

Hello, can I ask a question about lipo wire guage? I've seen alot of mixed answers on this. Im buying 5 of the turnigy 10c,20 ah, 4series lipo. I'm replacing the xt90s it comes with, with as150 connectors. Il be connecting them in series to get 72volt nominal. I'm putting the as150 directly where th...

Re: Charging LTO at Max Speed?

please ignore john fatty and chalo, they dont have a clear understanding of the basics and you end up in the woods like that. what you want is no a problem from a technical perspective. but the problem is amps mostly, this is what makes it so expensive so there need to be a good technical motivation...

Do you have any suggestions based on the info i gave?

not really , it will work and each battery will simply give depending on their internal resistance, but even the connectors and wires you are using to tie the batteries together are a factor.

unless a bms trips i would not worry so much.

Re: Running parallel battery pack. I need help please.

but will the controller demand 40 from each battery or will the controller recognize that one can drain faster and do so? it depends on what each battery can give. there are too many variables for that. the controller does not care in the slightest wich battery gives him the power nor does it have ...

im fquick on understanding but here if feel puzzled not having understood yet what wrong could happen if the anode rod center happens to be welded to the anode part bottom (that is the risk isn t it?) both are anode so that would not be a short curcuit, what would be the problem, would you be willi...

Always go with the higher voltage. Controllers only care about amps. So a 50A controller delivers double the power at 72V compared to 36V.

Re: Building a large capacity battery for bicycle trailer

Say what you want and trash talk them if you choose. But from what I've heard they do test their batteries and the description of what they're selling is accurate. The cells I bought were described as new and both looked new and others have tested them and found them to be at or above their rated c...

Re: TIG welding battery strips

The shops that use those types of welders dont allow cameras or phones to enter the work area. Should be obvious. I only know 1 company in my country that has a welder like that and they only do work for the millitary and sattelite manufacturing, and they got armed guards, so good luck whipping out ...

Re: supercap battery boosting

Sorry, it does not work like that in practice. If you have the space for supercaps you have the space for more batteries. More batteries gives you more everything so you dont need supercaps. If you have problems with voltage sag you need to change your battery, not bolt on more crap to offset your w...

Re: TIG welding battery strips

Mass manufacturers often use ultrasound or laser welding, for a much cooler process. Even when they're using resistance welding, they have process control that nobody here does. I challenge you to find a single commercial manufacturer that uses arc welding to join cylindrical batteries. It's a stup...

Battery hookup is shady? From what I've heard they have a decent reputation. And I've placed 3 orders with them with no issues. The cells I got seem to be A grade and unused. you get what you pay for. fake cells are still fake cells. same goes with the used ones they sell. even if they sell "o...
