Re: APL's DIY axial-flux motor

I like the idea of a 3d printed motor but what scares me is the tolerances. I watched a video where a guy couldnt make a circle pull a vacuum due to the movement error of the printing machine nozzles circles circleness, i get the more profesional printers will have a tighter tolerance but surely the...

Whats your pack config, controllers using and top speed aiming for because those wheels in right setup specially as a pair will go just under 120mph i think from kv rating at 32s and with high amps be damn hard to hold on too need to lean in lol. Keep us updated i like to see and help where i can, k...

Commutation similarity

Ive been studying motor commution in my spare time and ive noticed that a true sinewave run bldc motor is very simular output to a brushed motor in how the field coils energize even though the signals they see are different. Bldc frequency based sineasolodal wave. Field energises with a typical roun...

Re: Razor e300 heritage scooter mod heavy.

Got the motor back together ferrite beads on to stop any spark noise the capacitors missed from getting back at the controller, Its never meant to be a power monster its not going to be shy with 3kw but its about using old tech to embrace the heritage and push it for one last hoorah. The inspiration...

Im coming from an engineers point of view understanding the method as a whole enough to make use of the programs you help write, you plug it in If you put it that simple then yes i plug it in. Re: True FOC: definition and examples

Vesc is the best way to view its code for a beginner and from there a basic understanding of electrical principles and formula to read whats going on. Just no. If you want to understand FOC, stay away from VESC. Far far away. I've written FOC from scratch, using wikipedia as my only reference. I wa...

Re: True FOC: definition and examples

Foc would of helped my motor not be in the scrap pile. Holding top speed for long durations seen my motor get got enough to chuck a magnet, those demon eddys in the core could have been limited if the motor was phases wernt playing a game of push and pull between eachother with minor errors building...

Re: Razor E300 24V motor or 36V motor on 10S ? Amps?

The 36v motor i run on 12s cant remember the amps but i got to the bottom of my street and it let a massive smoke out and chargrilled itself, it was geared lightly too but just to much for the little chap theres no airflow to the core in them and theres no heat path so they cook fast. The zy1020 36v...

Re: Razor e300 heritage scooter mod heavy.

For anyone struggling to put a brushed motor back together here's a little tip if theres no 🔐 on the brush holder, use elastic bands and then cut them once in place.

This has got to be the most love one these brushed motor has ever got. The brush plate is complete and theres some room left to put mesh in if i feel the need. The studs are mounted in place of the old screws with nuts too keep the pcb level and then bolt down from the top, i left the original locat...

Re: Razor e300 heritage scooter mod heavy.

Hi. I have seen a proliferation of these motors and they seem a good cheap way to get around from the "better" but a bit more complicated hub motors. Do you have any cheap/reliable source for 3 phase HIGH RPM motor-controllers? I can find the motors pretty hand- brushed and brushless-3-ph...

Re: Razor e300 heritage scooter mod heavy.

Caps on the underside of the pcb in sleeving for the brush sparks. 10uf 100v ×5 Added terminal posts to the brushholder corners and added lugs to the brushes so the power goes direct to the brush instead of across its holder giving less resistance in the circuit and the metal is not getting hot from...

Ive ordered few metres of some 10awg and 6 core shielded wire and im gonna have a bash opening out the axle hole same as the the guy in the video did. Looking at the copper content both motors look simular and their pole counts identical its the magnets that differ, mine are one lump and his 4 piece...

Re: Razor e300 heritage scooter mod heavy.

Conformal coated the motor all bar the commutators and side covers etc. The vent holes are no where near upto the job of letting enough air pass through so ive opened them out to the limit of the reinforcement spider ...

Httr cheers for the link. I checked a few more of his vids and he got one of the tyre spinning up and its like a dragster its a good inch rise all round can hear a woop noise to strange but that wheel is moving. Lots to like about that build cheers for the link. Main ones are the motors themselfs looking at the cases the genuine dualtron hubs have alot more strength not so scabby on the alu, and the magnets look a different arrangment to what mine runs ill have to take some screen shots and compare the stat...

Re: 27.5” front 26” rear - Wheelbuilding

Mad rhino your spot on by there. Trend in world cup downhill has been bigger wheels over the years and its led to 29ers that are timed faster than the old 26. Kuberg freerider got 20 inch wheels and their slow speed turn ability is good but as for rolling over bumps the front forks are working overt...

Re: Rwd dual motor hub+inrunner chain drive 8kw capable.

OK get your idea and like the determination there but not sure I see the point. I've ran stock Dualtron hubs from 40A/60v to 60A/72V some have gone to 72V/140A with only phase wire upgrade (and hall sensors) and that might be an easier way to achieve the increased output goal but have a feeling tha...

Re: 27.5” front 26” rear wheel

Ask chalos on washers material for the hub brass could be maliable and have a nice seat face last a long time give the spoke head more life so id see what he says on that one. But for a torque arm get something decent 72v 60amp will work away at anything weak. I found a local waterjet shop and long ...

IMG_20190212_145859520.jpg Ive had a little think about the longevity of such a ride and i think with the appropriate mods it could be pulled off, 219 chain and sprocket for the innrunner so a bit of shaft work is needed for that nothing to drastic or hard. Then theres the hub side cover it will be...

Re: 27.5” front 26” rear wheel

I bet you had an adrenaline rush pushing the button like an ebay bid after all that effort. Dont worry about the spoke heads they tend to fail with to much power over time even in a well built wheel theres a limit. Kuberg freerider got a well setup rear wheel, little dishing fairly even spoke tensio...

Re: True FOC: definition and examples

The 3 phases/power rangers combine their forces to control the megazoid/ motor. Its thier combined power that gives the strength if one is weakened then it acts on the whole. Then there is a hint of honda vtecs timing fettling at low and high rpm but the cam profile is adjustable. Sorry to bomb the ...
