Re: DH Comp Rotomax Mid drive
Out of high school I did a fitting and machining apprenticeship which was all manual machining. I had been dicking around with CAD a year or two before that but was self taught so was ok but never that good at it. As soon as my apprenticeship was over I got a job working with some incredibly talente...

Re: DH Comp Rotomax Mid drive
Wicked eh bud, What gauge drive chain are you using,? Did you print the drive chain sprockets as well? Its just a 219 go kart chain. The drive chain sprocket is printed atm but thats just for a fit check/ curiosity, Ill machine a proper one after I prove it moves and the reduction is about right. r...

Re: Serious FOCer (84V VESC 6 based controller)
Thats a real shame but no need to apologize at all. Im sure everyone here appreciates the amount of work and difficulty of what you're doing, Its well and truly over my head. Just as a test would it be possible to orient the boards further away or 90 degrees to each other to get the logic board away...

Re: DH Comp Rotomax Mid drive
Sorry for the lack of updates. In this period of radio silence Ive added hall sensors and a thermister to the motor, machined the parts for the chain tensioner and idlers and also the pulley for the motor shaft. Ive decided to run the printed pulleys to confirm Ive got the ratios somewhat right befo...

Re: Serious FOCer (84V VESC 6 based controller)
Why would you want anything under 24 or 36V? 1S is simple and allows for more power dense motor designs with simplified bms. Only down side really is you have to run larger wires. Thats very much not the case. Simple bms yes but it definitely does not result in more power dense motors, in fact quit...

Re: DH Comp Rotomax Mid drive
Been a bit slack but I finally finished winding the motor. Its turned out quite well and passed a 500V insulation test without any issues I ended up starting again from my last post and added some extra wire It has 30% increase in cross sectional area and an extra turn to get the Kv down which resul...

Re: DH Comp Rotomax Mid drive
Ive been a bit slack with this project recently but Ive got one phase wound on the motor. The cross sectional area is up by 15% and also an additional 2 turns so the copper fill should be a fair bit better than it was before

Re: Nucular electronics - complete kit for ev! [beta]
I understand having to put the prices up but I dont agree with putting them up for the people who have pre-ordered. Frankly having told someone theyre getting something for one price then after a couple months saying that you have to pay more is a really good way to get in peoples bad books. I would...

Re: DH Comp Rotomax Mid drive
Ive done what should be enough of a fix for the mean time, it might even be stronger than before but it is a bit ugly.
The shock should be ok for some testing but it really is a bit naff

Re: DH Comp Rotomax Mid drive
Ive made up a sprocket adapter and fitted it to the bike, I was in a bit of a rush so the machining is a bit rough in places but it turned out ok. Ive just mocked it up for now. 20190706_114810.jpg 20190706_121218.jpg 20190706_122158.jpg Im starting to look into chucking the battery in a back pack a...

Re: DH Comp Rotomax Mid drive
I think with 10 pole pairs, kV 150 and noload consumption of 250-300W at 14s you'd get quite high eddy losses at 20S. It'd be higher than hobbykings speced rpm by a lot.. "To have flying magnets or not to have" as shakespeare would've said :D Youre probably right. I think Ill be sensible ...

Re: DH Comp Rotomax Mid drive
Thats one thing that Im not too sure on actually. I had planned this routing initially Chainline2.PNG But like you mentioned it wont really work with regen. Because both sides of the chain are above the pivot point of the swing arm when the suspension compresses both sides of the chain will shorten ...

Re: DH Comp Rotomax Mid drive
Regen for brakes or keeping the disc too? Im mounting the sprocket to where the disk would be mounted on the hub so will have to rely on regen or just the front brake I've looked at this myself: http://teamtriforceuk.com/a200s-v2-1/ Nice power in a small package, VESC. Maybe also a Kelly high speed...

Re: Nucular electronics - complete kit for ev! [beta]
In star it should be 33mOhm, 54microH and 86.5kv which (I think) is 62,300erpm (based on 10 pole pairs and 72v pack)
It has a fairly sinusoidal commutation so from what Ive read it should be fairly easy to drive??
I might just have to bite the bullet and try it out

Re: Nucular electronics - complete kit for ev! [beta]
Hi Vasili I tried to send you a PM but my message wouldnt send. Im quite interested in a 12F to run my rotomax 150 build. I saw somewhere that the erpm limit is 100k. Is that for FOC or just 6 step? If I terminate this motor in wye I can stay under that number. Out of the list of possible temperatur...

Upgrade motor bearing it will help Looking forward to end ebike😎 Do you have 135mm or 150mm rearend for comp frame Im not sure, there are a couple on the cards atm. Re: DH Comp Rotomax Mid drive
Ive modified the rotor and made a new shaft to extend out the back of the motor. The pulleys are just 3d printed for now, Ill make some proper ones at some point but Im rather curious to see how the printed ones hold up. 20190615_113918.jpg 20190615_115131.jpg 20190615_115216.jpg 20190615_121947.jpg
