Re: How To, 50A BBSHD Controller Mod
Until U get an answer from furcifer..... I did the shunt mod on the BBSHD a long time ago by soldering a R005 (5 mOhm shunt) on top of the two R005 shunts on the board. It works a charm! I have the EM3ev 52V (14S7P) hard case battery pack, with ~33A burstlimit and ~43A continious limit. (Beside BMS ...

Re: Steel square taper cranks with 1/2inch female
Just use an helicoil Thought of that, but I have only found pedal insert thread for repairing damaged threads in cranks like 9/16" x 20 tpi (inner diameter) to 5/8'' x 24 tpi outer.. Do you have a link where to buy the 9/16" to 1/2" helicoil or anyone else that knows? Perhaps I have ...

Re: Steel square taper cranks with 1/2inch female
Weld the pedal hole in, and use this 1/2" pedal tap https://www.ebay.com/itm/Park-Tool-TAP-3-Bike-Bicycle-Cycling-Pedal-Tap-for-Crank-Arms-1-2/111846504698?epid=691316009&hash=item1a0a9238fa:g:UxcAAOSw8-tWaR~p&frcectupt=true That's a good idea, but I think the weld will not be strong e...

Steel square taper cranks with 1/2inch female
Hi, Asking for help if anyone knows where to buy cranks: I am converting a vintage military bike to electric, using the BBSHD mid-drive and the shaft of the BBSHD demands square tapper cranks. It seems like all square tapper cranks on the market use the modern 9/16" threads for pedals, but I wa...

Re: BBSHD Error Code 08
A friend had this problem once due to moist/dirt in the connector between the motor and the hallsensor. Unplugged it, used contact cleaner, and pluggd it and problem solved. Good thing to use heatshrink in the first place to keep the water out..

Re: BBSHD advice before placing order
I built my bbshd bike about 2 years ago and here are my suggestions 1. Check length of bottombracket to order the correct size. (as pointed out). You want a straight chainline, but also you want to make sure that the cogs of the front chainwheel doesn´t hit the frametube. So I would choose a bbshd w...

Re: How To, 50A BBSHD Controller Mod
Where the cables enters the controller, there are a lot of tiny cables (white, red, black ...) attached to the board, and two of them got loose. I have not been able to solder them back on, they are just to small. I thought of getting this project completed, but I want some input about what equipme...

Re: How To, 50A BBSHD Controller Mod
Nice to see this thread is still alive! :thumb: I want to discuss what soldering equipment to use for the controller mod. This is very important because the components are tiny and without the right tools, this mod can(will) be a pain in the ass. I used a butane soldering iron, and a electric one an...

Re: How To, 50A BBSHD Controller Mod
BBSHD processor chip.jpg Well, it's right there. It would be very challenging to replace the chip. I don't think you could get a new chip from anywhere either. What would be easier would be to re-flash the firmware on the chip, but that is something only Bafang has and they are not likely to give y...

Re: How To, 50A BBSHD Controller Mod
A big thanks to you guys. I swapped out my shunt resistors and capacitors. A bit off topic, but does anyone here know where the ROM/EPROM chip that contains the firmware is located on the PCB? Perhaps it is possible to replace that chip with the one on my faulty controller with the old firmware to ...

Re: How To, 50A BBSHD Controller Mod
Some pictures of my mosfet swap out. The new IRFB4110 from is rated 100V. Found very good information about it here https://electricbike-blog.com/bbs02-controller-mods/ Very important to not have used the controller for some time before soldering shunts, mosfets and so on, or there will be shortcuts...

Re: How To, 50A BBSHD Controller Mod
The cap fitting problem can be easily solved by putting a DIY gasket between that can give several mm of headroom. Put a thin layer of oil on the contact area of the controllershell and stamp it on a paper to do a template. Cut the template out and draw on the material. I drilled the gasket out from...
