Re: "Copper/nickel sandwich" buses for series connections

Thanks Darren! You make some good points I hadn't considered regarding the positioning. I will do as you suggest when I get around to doing this. Cheers You could decrease/increase the scale but because I made the original file with cylinders and a set ID for the weld spot it might not fit your set...

Re: "Copper/nickel sandwich" buses for series connections

I used a 3D printed template to align the weld spots on the last copper battery I built but this stuff would be helpful if you don't have enough welding amps to weld pure nickel or can't be bothered with a template on an offset battery. IMG_4612.JPG That is what I need. Would you mind sharing the S...

Another thing that I generally use the copper tape for is busbars and flat cables. Here is a practice 10S10P battery I made:

Re: "Copper/nickel sandwich" buses for series connections

Where did you source the 0.10mm nickle-plated steel? That is looking like the best material for caps/parallel strips. I buy mine from Lucy's quality store on Aliexpress. They also sell 0.1mmx2/3/4mm for cell fuses. On this 10S8P practice battery I used 0.1mmx2mm which is good for around 4A continuo...

Re: Measuring super capacitor ESR?

To anyone that is interested I found the answer in the datasheet. I misread it the first time . Sorry for the confusion.

R4875G1 - How to switch on?

I recently upgraded my R4850G2 to a R4875G1 and I am wondering if I can jump the same pins to get it to switch on. Usually it is the pre charge pin and main DC ground to the slot detection pin. On the R4875G1 the board and pads are slightly different so the control unit is probably different. I thou...

2x Brand New RG4850G2 3000W Rectifiers - Nucular Chargers

I have already modded these internally so they will switch on without any extra solder joints on the external PCB. Both units are brand new and have only been opened so the modification could be added. I also have the CAN modules to adjust the voltage and current if you need those. If you want these...

Re: "Copper/nickel sandwich" buses for series connections

Here is my 22S14P VTC6 HG2 hybrid battery. I couldn't afford the extra VTC6 needed so I went with HG2. There is a total of 470g of copper over the full battery. I used 6mm squares of 0.1mm nickel and welded as close as I could to the corners to make the most of the 1750A my welding battery can suppl...

Re: Measuring super capacitor ESR?

why would you want to measure the IR of a supercap? its capacity is well outside the range of normal IR meters. the only hope you have is to fully charge the cap to its full rated voltage and have saturated it (so it does not draw ANY current anymore) This is the first batch of ultra capacitors I h...

Re: Measuring super capacitor ESR?

Does anyone know if it is possible to measure ESR with a ACIR 1khz meter? I got 3.44mOhm when charged to 2.75V. The capacitor is a Maxwell BCAP 1200 P270 which is supposed to have a DC ESR of 0.58mOhm. Does anyone have a conversion factor or a comparison with the same meter on the same series of ca...

Re: The case for using Supercapacitors with Lithium-Ion batteries in EV's

If it is still to be manufactured wouldn't it be easier to spend the money on a lower IR battery. Less system complexity plus probably more capacity. The only negative is weight but does that really matter when most EVs are already quite heavy. Already existing EVs with tired batteries or racing EVs...

Re: New type of PAS. Is it faulty?

I haven't given it a proper try yet but thanks for the advise. I ordered the ones recommended by E-HP. I wouldn't call it "recommend", since I have no idea what your setup is, but just to be complete, the grin sensor is customized for use with the cycle analyst, and runs on 10V. The KT un...

Re: New type of PAS. Is it faulty?

I have ordered the KT-V12L and CD-V12L. Hopefully they are better than the one that I have at the moment. As far as I know KT usually supply higher quality parts so hopefully I don't get another broken one.

I recently bought a newer style of PAS but it does not turn. Is it supposed to be like this? The older style sensors used to be made from a sensor and a separate magnet disc. :?

Re: How to get the most power out of a QS205 50H?

Wingdings are a very touchy topic. In my experience, it really depends on how you ride. People want to have the ability to launch hard from a stop, but most of the time nobody is doing this consistently (unless you're racing or riding extremely technical trails). The majority of people are more imp...

Re: How to get the most power out of a QS205 50H?

The battery compartment on my frame is best suited for 22S14P and the Nucular is only warranted to 90V so I went with the 3.5T. If I was able to use 24S at 4.2V I would have chosen a 4T but at 90V 300bA 500pA you can max out the 3.5T and have lots of mid range power especially once you factor in fi...

Re: How to get the most power out of a QS205 50H?

I am wondering how to get the most power out of this setup: QS205 50H (kV not decided) Nucular 24F at 300bA/500pA 25" total wheel size 10-50mph I know the basic theory is to condense the motors available power into a useful rpm range but as we all know this is not as easy as it sounds when the...
