Re: 40T, neodymium magnets, plasti dip cycle test
the 7.5mm magnets came in i set the gap at 12.5mm and mark the polarity of the magnets IMG_20210302_175535.jpg fold it over twice and mark the seam up IMG_20210302_180142.jpg IMG_20210302_204011.jpg have some 0.1mm copper coming i plan to cut the center in an X and fold it back on itself and use the...

Re: Right settings for regenerative charge ?
to be safe you could put charge current at 6amps (6amps x 72v=432watts of regen braking) what would electric brake phase current be? 10amps??? Thanks a lot for your reply goatman, so how did you get to 6 or 10 amps ? Is there a calculation behind it or is it just by feeling or experience ? 6 batter...

Re: Self-Discharge UPDATE On 30Q 141 Cells
i dont follow the general consensus of discharging a cell at low amps will increase its lifecycle, the majority yes but not all 30Q and 40T are different than others take a look at my testing 30Q and 40T are the only cells ive found that like to continuously cycle, other cell cells will lose half th...

Re: Right settings for regenerative charge ?
It means that the BMS would not be limiting current during regen, so you have to protect the battery yourself by choosing a reasonable charging current, based on the cell specs and pack configuration. But i'm realy hard trying to find out what "reasonable charging current" means or even w...

Re: 40T, neodymium magnets, plasti dip cycle test
10mm magnets work fine for 21700 and 26650 batteries but 18650 the positive button is 8mm-diameter and 10mm width is a bit too wide for the cell holders i figured the copper tape is 0.04mm and the distance between cells is only 1/2 inch, i wanted to do a test before ordering more magnets. the magnet...

i have a 13s5p/48v, that i run at 1000 to 1350watts continuously had a fully charged battery, touched the throttle and lost all power turned bike back on, had full voltage, touched throttle and lost all power opened up the battery, had a 40amp fuse inside, it wasnt blown but the plastic fuse holder ...

Re: 40T, neodymium magnets, plasti dip cycle test
bought a nickel plated copper ground strap from NAPA part #770-6119 its about 8mm wide its too thick for the magnets to hold strongly IMG_20210225_170809.jpg i opened it up with a screw driver and you can slide the magnets inside, ill be soldering 2 battery leads in between 1p/2p and 3p/4p so i made...

Re: "desulfate" 40T and 30Q and VTC6 and P42a
i hear exactly what youre saying desulfating does something to the discharge curve and brings back capacity for about 50 cycles so when you had the self discharging cells it was the perfect opportunity to see what happens when you desulfate them i dont know the history of the cells other than the pa...

going to desulfate some salvaged 30Q from bad packs these were in a hot glue pack 5 cells at 1.97v 1s5p IMG_20210223_081939.jpg charged to 4.2v at 3amps then discharged to 2.5v at 3amps (0.6amps) curve looks fine https://i.imgur.com/GNGl4YU.png charged to 4.2v at 3 amps https://i.imgur.com/OWbhULp.p...

1/4 inch tinned copper braid i think can handle 30amps
wouldnt be hard to slide a magnet inside it

i can do bulk testing within reason with my battery tester or ebike if i want to do 1s5p, i discharge and charge at 3amps(0.6amps/cell) in 11 hours can do an entire bike pack in 11hrs heres 5p of 30Q-136 at 1.97v, i can charge/discharge/charge (4.2v/2.5v/4.2v) in about 16hrs IMG_20210223_081939.jpg ...

got some salvaged 30Q-136 where the spotwelds were really bad/weak, should be able to clean them with a sanding drum and use magnets made a 1s70p and slug taped them together to equalize the voltages for a week then take it apart and build 17s4p IMG_20210222_194148.jpg IMG_20210222_193943.jpg IMG_20...

my battery guy has 300- 30Q from faulty packs, i agreed to buy 80 from him to try the "desulfate" thing on them.
ill be able to share the results,
if it works ill buy all of them

Re: Manual balance discharge device?
i use salvaged cells, no bms you could bottom balance your cells to 3.0v then charge to what would be 4.10v/p-group 13s@4.1v would be 53.3v when the pack is fully charged at 53.3v the top end voltages might be slightly different like a 0.15v spread write the voltages down and use it for a week and r...
