Re: ok folks here is the hybrid ebike.

Pulling that load of ICE, I'd guess that it would take at least 3kW to get that hybrid going 30 mph.

I salute your ingenuity and your most excellent use of your dad's generator. ๐Ÿ

However, take care.

Thanks, I already am subscribed to CNCkitchen He has been excellent. I like CHEP too. His easy going style is refreshing. Didn't know about Matterhackers, but after a quick look, I can see I'll be sending a few $s his way. Like I think I've already mentioned, 3D printing looks to be quite the 'rabbi...

Re: how about a 3d printer section?

Excellent info! :bigthumb: So far I have only used the PLA that came with my ender 3 v2 and the benchy I printed with it turned out almost perfect. No strings or blobs. just a tiny almost unnoticeable wave in a section of the the hull. Right now I'm printing with some Sunlu PLA+ that came from Amazo...

Sad news; Aussie Jester has passed away

Endless Sphere's favorite jester has died. Stomach cancer got him. Kim was one of ES's colorful characters. He was disabled from a motorcycle accident and stuck with having to use a wheelchair, but that didn't stop him from making one of the most beautiful etrikes around. He was a man of character a...

Re: how about a 3d printer section?

Thanks for the info. I am a total newbie at 3D printing, so everything is useful info to me. I was wondering if I should even mess with ABS.I have a spool of nylon on the way to try, but was wondering if the carbon fiber infused stuff is worth messing with. I will mostly be using the printer for bra...

Re: how about a 3d printer section?

Also for anybody printing mechanical parts a heated chamber is the number one upgrade by far. All my FDM printers run heated chambers, normally around 70C and it makes printing strong parts from warpy materials easy. I'm curious how you keep your enclosure at 70C. Is it as simple as keeping an 60W ...

I recently upgraded to an ender 5+ with 350x350x400 build volume. Hoping to get it reliable enough to print large battery enclosures.
I almost bought the ender 5 and maybe I should have, but for $130 I can buy a extension kit for my ender3 that gives me a 400x400x250 build volume.

That's a good idea, but not too sure how popular it will be. I'm just now finishing mine. It's an Ender3 v2 with a few improvements. Added frame supports, auto leveling sensor (that arrived DOA, awaiting replacement) Metal extruder, all metal hotend, Capricorn bowdem tube, stronger Y axis table spri...

Throw some kind of tantrum before you purchase, so you can be sure you're doing business with a retailer who is willing to tolerate you.

I agree that hybrids are the way to go for the near future until the battery and charging infrastructure problems are solved. When GM announced that they were discounting the Volt, I sold my 4 year old one and bought an identical new one so I would be covered for the next 6 years or so. For my wife ...

I'm jealous.

I swear, if I could get my hands on one of those rear power units, I'd build one last race car and go out in style.

Re: Charging a 72v pack from a 96v pack?

If you are just looking for a reserve and your controller can handle the voltage, you could just add a 12 or 24V boost pack in series. That way the battery chemistry won't matter. I did that, adding a 6s boost pack to a 18s main only I started out on 24s and unplugged the 6s after my CA told me I ha...
