Good luck with the motor project. However personally, I would not like this forum affiliated with any kickstarter/gofundme scheme. :lowbatt:

Re: how about a 3d printer section?

Thanks for the suggestions. They both sound reasonable. The temps are within the filament mfg specs, but it's obvious I need to tinker with them a bit I added a dual z axis kit when building the thing and think I should have tried it first with only the one stepper. The idea of only having one lead ...

Now that's something we've yet to see on ES.

That's a cool little engraver you've got. Kinda reminds me of the Carveright I beta tested years ago. I think dentists use machines like that to make crowns. I'd love to see pics of the walking beam engine you mentioned. Please don't take my post as being derogatory, I really am interested in strang...

Re: how about a 3d printer section?

I managed to get a test print completed. It took about 8 hours. I got some blobs and quite a bit of stringing. I wonder if I should change my temps or increase the retraction? This was printed @ 210* nozzle and 70* bed temp using Sunlu PLA+ with the standard quality Cura settings. 2021-07-24 12_54_5...

Re: 18650 fire!

I think about the best you can do is to try to keep the stuff nearby from catching fire. Sand/dirt is the best and maybe only way to put out Li fires. I keep a thick fire blanket around and keep the batteries covered with it when charging and in storage. Never keep your batteries near highly flammab...

Wow! Thank you GonZo. That is exactly the type of info I was looking for. I will be trying those settings for sure. It's a coincidence that the only filament I have is the Sunlu PLA+ that you mentioned. :) How is it for sucking up water? Mine came not vacuumed packed. Currently I'm keeping it in a g...

Pulling that load of ICE, I'd guess that it would take at least 3kW to get that hybrid going 30 mph.

I salute your ingenuity and your most excellent use of your dad's generator. ๐Ÿ

However, take care.

Excellent info! :bigthumb: So far I have only used the PLA that came with my ender 3 v2 and the benchy I printed with it turned out almost perfect. Sad news; Aussie Jester has passed away

Endless Sphere's favorite jester has died. Stomach cancer got him. Kim was one of ES's colorful characters. He was disabled from a motorcycle accident and stuck with having to use a wheelchair, but that didn't stop him from making one of the most beautiful etrikes around. He was a man of character a...

Thanks for the info. I am a total newbie at 3D printing, so everything is useful info to me. I will mostly be using the printer for bra...

Re: how about a 3d printer section?

Also for anybody printing mechanical parts a heated chamber is the number one upgrade by far. All my FDM printers run heated chambers, normally around 70C and it makes printing strong parts from warpy materials easy. I'm curious how you keep your enclosure at 70C. Is it as simple as keeping an 60W ...

I recently upgraded to an ender 5+ with 350x350x400 build volume. Hoping to get it reliable enough to print large battery enclosures.
I almost bought the ender 5 and maybe I should have, but for $130 I can buy a extension kit for my ender3 that gives me a 400x400x250 build volume.
