Re: The HI-Lebowski: a Lebowski SMD brain running a zombified Honda IMA Inverter: *a HOW-TO guide*

Find something to rest your wrist / hand on. Helps to move your fingers instead of trying to move your whole arm or from your elbow. Bringing the whole thing up near shoulder height helps too. Don't arch your back, bring the piece up. Use a thin / sharp tip in the soldering iron and "split"...

VW ID4 motor breakdown

Quite a bit of talking but some great views and design references, https://youtu.be/3Bab6CttkEY I have no idea how the laminations connect to the motor shaft unless it's the 4 long bolts he's mentioning. The green mat is a very interesting view of the magnetism lines. Wouldn't these stagger mess wit...

Re: Direct Torque Control insights and examples?

Seems like decent info here, https://www.motioncontroltips.com/what-is-direct-torque-control-dtc-for-ac-induction-motors/ There's a decent visual of the control loops but no examples. And a quick read to me they're claiming it's a faster and more accurate way of delivering the requested torque. The ...

Re: TIG welding battery strips

I have not attempted to weld a battery yet. A really good tig welder (person) can weld a cut beer can together. A good tig welder (machine) can set the current to 1A, can set a duration, pulse time, etc. The pedal / finger controller gives you 0-100% of the current setting. Problem is without destro...

Any of these brain board or brain board PCB's for sale?

I can order a bunch from JLC but i thought i would try here first as I only need 1.
Did you look at how far off this was from JLC assembly? They have a large pool of components they stock and only build with their components.

Re: VESC modularity / standarization?

2.54mm / .100" pitch are common, have solder cup, screw terminal, screwless terminals, headers, and wire to board connectors. Plenty of decent options there for internal stuff. For the external stuff that's where I see this waterproofing falling apart. A lot of these sealed connectors need to b...

Re: VESC modularity / standarization?

I agree, only makes sense for the sealed connector for external connections. I read what I think was the thread you meant. The ebikes connector linked there was kind of surprising. The confusion of having the same connector, what goes where, if they are plugged in the wrong spot does it blow up? The...

Mxlemming, the BobC / kiwifiat / whereswally? SMD Lebowski board files should be at this link, https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=87104&p=1596824&hilit=Bobc+Lebowski#p1598010 It's a txt file you download and rename to zip. No mounting holes in that design. I did not s...

Re: VESC modularity / standarization?

I just looked up the STM32F405RGT. JLC does not stock it but LCSC does. 0 stock in the USA at common distributors. Anyone that seems to have them are charging $30+ each currently. I'm in no real rush to do this. I am putting a design on hold until the chip shortages settle down. Galp has not release...

Re: VESC modularity / standarization?

This wasn't at all meant as a business case but that should be a side effect. I'm not sure what you mean. Somebody would still have to design, build, and sell the modular VESC (CPU stage, driver stage, whatever) in order for you to buy one. Or I make one / spin someone's design this way and share i...

Re: VESC modularity / standarization?

This wasn't at all meant as a business case but that should be a side effect. If you could buy a pre made harness pigtail that was color coded, was waterproof, and plugged into a VESC for say $40-60 that was machine terminated I think you could sell a bunch. It's to your point of the torture of crim...

VESC modularity / standarization?

I keep seeing these great VESC designs from different people. Seems like half of the design is "common" VESC brains and the other half is the power section. 1. Would it make sense to split the brain from the muscle in these designs to add flexibility in making and evolving these designs? T...

SiCfet / SenseFet controller

Is anyone working on a VESC power stage that uses sensefet tech? They're TO-247-4 package sicfets that have an "extra" small mosfet in them that runs at 500:1 current ratio to the large mosfet. This means you can use a small current sense resistor on the tiny mosfet for current and safety ...

Power output stage, SEMix modules

I've been lurking for quite a while. I was considering building one of the many Lebowski controllers and have been doing lots of research here. The work here is amazing but seems build time heavy. I've been considering building my own Lebowski smd controller and power output stage (and sharing it al...

Re: Power PCB for Lebowski Controller to be combined with Bobc's processor board

Thanks for the info kiwifiat and amberwolf. I'm planning on building an electric gokart to learn. Next, a 2wd motorcycle, then an awd 2 or 3 motor car. I did find Lebowski' s code. I wasn't sure if it was for this smd microchip or the larger through hole processor, but it looks like both. Any 30F401...

Re: Power PCB for Lebowski Controller to be combined with Bobc's processor board

I've been lurking for a few months trying to figure out which way is up. Every time I think I've found the latest I find a new version. It's great but difficult to figure out which way to go. I'd like to build this power stage and have a few ideas to help the overall design be a bit more modular / s...
