Re: Neppy's Maxarya Ray 2 Semi Recumbent
Raising the crown race worked mechanically fine, even with the flimsy alu can shims for centering. I was planning on welding the crown race to spacer, but I ended up modifying my frame to get the chainline I needed. Problem was I used 30mm longer fork + 30mm spacer, which ruined the geometry and mad...

Re: Neppy's Maxarya Ray 2 Semi Recumbent
There are also crown races which are up to 10mm tall. I could actually buy a few crown races, grind the top off, and metal epoxy the current crown race to these spacers to make a tall crown race.. the SR Suntour XCT JR L has a bulged section that's 10mm tall.. so this would actually work. For extra...

Re: can a 194mm steerer tube replace a 170mm one?
You could use a spacer between the top nut and upper bearing race, though you need likely something better than a modern threadless spacer. This was just about the nicest new rim brake fork I could find: https://www.ebay.com/itm/RockShox-Recon-Silver-TK-Fork-26-100mm-Travel-Solo-Air-9mm-QR-Disc-V-Br...

Re: Neppy's Maxarya Ray 2 Semi Recumbent
Ah, so close. I chose 120mm length cranks for comfort mostly, no need for maximal power output anyways as long as you have an electric motor to assist. Good news is that those square taper bottom brackets are available up to 140mm width on ebay.

Re: A Good Threaded 1 1/8" suspension fork????
Get a threadless fork, you only need to change your upper headset bearing or grind the threads out of the old one and get an ahead style stem. Rock shox with an air spring gives a nice ride, but coils work too. I looked at ebay and you can still get a silver tk 32 with canti mounts for 26" whee...

Re: Aprilia 125 rs conversion
You can find batteries with decent performance in some hybrid vehicles. They are not most energy dense in wh/kg sense, but will put out plenty of power for a price thats hard to beat. BMW hybrid packs with Samsung cells come to mind. 5-6 modules of 16s in a pack, 1,5kwh rated capacity (2kwh in later...

I hope we will have a lot more people in the future hacking and opening this proprietary EV technology for recycling parts for conversions and possibly circumventing Tesla style attempts to block the right to repair our own stuff. Damien Maguire is one of those rare people that work towards open sol...

Hey, just a friendly reminder for anyone getting into these Nissan cells. Factor in the degradation in your wh/$ estimates! Unless sure, buy capacity tested modules from a reputable seller.

Re: How often should the rechargeable battery of an electric car be replaced?
In a tweet last week Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, indicated the cost of replacing battery modules in the companies Model 3 will cost about $3000 – $7000 USD. Not a bad price considering the current batteries are designed to last 300,000 to 500,000 miles, which is the equivalent of 1,500 cycles. Poorly dea...

Re: Your thoughts on frames and riding positions?
Cost is an issue, most recumbents cost as much as a full suspension good quality mtb, for something special you are looking at new DH bike equivalent prices. One thing that makes recumbent riding position great for ebikes is that you don´t have the usual saddle problem. The less power you put down f...

Re: Your thoughts on frames and riding positions?
Best bike is the bike that suits the riding you do and your abilities and limitations. I used to ride 40+ km round trips every day in semi urban environment, so I ended up choosing a high racer style recumbent with 26" wheels. Due to poor roads and need for carrying loaded panniers it evolved i...

Re: DNM USD 8 vs USD 8s for QULBIX 140r Moto frame?
If you are on a strict budget and don´t mind a bit of additional weight, going for a moped front end might be a cheap solution. Steerer should be the same diameter and parts are super affordable.

So i figured.. before fixing the cannondale frame, i should convert the cannondale's front to a 20" wheel with a stiff fork so that i can run a moto tire on the front...however, there is no way in hell in can find the KP058 headset conversion kit to do that. I'm quite frustrated overall. Hey, ...
