Re: Hammering "thunk" noise from my 10" hub motor
If it's a tiny drive current, then the motor should be either harder to spin or easier to spin when present, than when it is not, so if you turn the bike upside down so the wheel is in the air, you can manually check the spin-resistance of wheel with throttle completely released vs just slightly tu...

Re: Hammering "thunk" noise from my 10" hub motor
All that said: The noise sounds electromechanical, not purely mechanical. It sounds like the controller is holding a current on the stator, which is applying a force on the coils against the magnets, then when throttle is released it releases that current. If it's a tiny drive current, then the mot...

Re: Hammering "thunk" noise from my 10" hub motor
If you take the hardware off and find any markings on it or your frame from movement, you'll know for sure. "Pretty snug" is not enough; it has to be "perfectly snug". It doesn't take much movement to cause a pretty big noise; you may not even be able to see the amount of moveme...

Here's my torque arm.spinningmagnets wrote: ↑Apr 29 2022 8:56amI'm probably wrong, but...do you use two stout torque-arms?
I'm using the plate provided by the QS. The hub bolt sits pretty snug in it. I'm pretty sure there's no play when power is applied.

Re: 1957 Lambretta LD 150 EV conversion
This build is really impressive! I love it. And you make it look so easy. Did you use the Android or PC version of the Kelly programming app? It looks easy but it's not. The swing arm was easier than i thought. Since i thought it was hard, i wasted a lot of time measuring things over and over. I wa...

Re: 1957 Lambretta LD 150 EV conversion
Hallo Yes using the original font is nice. My idea for spelling includes one more "e". The unit for electric current, Ampere, should take place in the name. L AMPERE TTA I think that works too. Although in the US, we usually spell it without the extra "E". Lambretta_logo_eq2.jpg...

Re: 1957 Lambretta LD 150 EV conversion
Sorry, no build thread. I hade a workshop to lathe an adapter for the electric motor to the crankshaft. The motor is attached to an aluminiumplate wich is attached by screws from inside the crankcase. The frame was modified by removing a part of the tube, and adding some reinforcements. I have som ...

Hammering "thunk" noise from my 10" hub motor
I’ve been looking all over but can’t find another behaving like mine. When i quickly twist the throttle, the noise happens just as I release the throttle. When free spinning, no noise. When very slowly release the throttle, no noise. In the below video, to prevent the scooter from lunging forward, I...

Re: 1957 Lambretta LD 150 EV conversion
kingkongshrimp, can you tell us about that headlight? I like it! Also, did you end up using two shocks after all? I see some later pics where you have the left one off, maybe just for doing the wiring? I did found a pair of shock that fits perfectly and has the right load 400 lb each. https://www.a...

Re: 1957 Lambretta LD 150 EV conversion
Hallo I have also made an EV-conversion of en Lambretta 150 LD -56. Removed cylinder, tank, flywheel and a lot of more parts. Then added an 5 kW/48V bruschless chinamotor in the place of the flywheel. Wow!!!! So nice to see another LD conversion. Do you have a build thread? Any more pics? I'm very ...

Keeping track of stuff. Absolutely love and relate to the practicality of this... Also, the suitcase amp/speaker in the back of that pic is completely my jam. (pun accepted) Thanks for noticing the boomcase. I like hi-fi stuff inside lo-fi environments. It has bluetooth and a USB charging station. ...

Re: Swing arm question
Yours... very respectable for a first attempt! I'd keep a very close eye on it all the same and maybe consider some extra gusseting where the width changes, you may get flexing under breaking/power that can lead to unexpected failure at any time. A kludge that may help, use a very hard paint and it...

Swing arm question
I’m pretty new at welding. I tried to make my swing arm as strong as possible. The original design was to have two shock absorber, one on each side of the arm to balance the reaction force of the shock to avoid twist and bending of the swing arm. The issue here is that with two shock absorber, there...

Re: 1957 Lambretta LD 150 EV conversion
Awesome progress, and I love the hidden switch and gauge, keeps the authentic look very well! cheers Tyler I tried to install a charge port in the old fuel petcock 10mm hole but couldn't find anything that fits. I ended up putting the lever back on. The old choke lever became my headlight switch. P...

Re: Charge port advice and opinion needed.
I have a 10mm hole in my scooter that i would like to use as a charge port mount. How many amps do you want to squeeze through that hole? I roasted a couple of 5.5mm charge plugs before deciding they weren't for me. I would consider 5A to be the upper limit of how much current is reliable long term...

Re: Charge port advice and opinion needed.
a hole pointing vertically up is asking for water to get in there and make your life miserable. something with a waterproof cap would probably be better. id also point out those connectors are rated at 50v and your charger is 72v? so.....itll will probably be fine at 72v.....but probably best not t...
