Re: Ebike Hub Motor overheating cooling solution - HUBSINK OFFICIAL THREAD

Thanks. They also mention that 2 15mm rings would be more efficient than a single 30mm ring. On all pictures with dual rings, the fins were lined up in a straight line. Wouldn't it be more efficient to line them up like this or would that be worse? https://s18.directupload.net/images/190823/temp/2fn...

Re: Ebike Hub Motor overheating cooling solution - HUBSINK OFFICIAL THREAD

Did anyone compare cooling performance of dual row hubsinks to single row hubsinks on motors like mxus 3k and qs205?
It would be nice to know if there is a significant boost in cooling performance.

TO-220 FETs (De)Soldering Technique

I plan to upgrade the FETs of a KT controller. I did some tests trying to desolder the TO-220 FETs of a broken controller both with the soldering iron and the heatgun and I prefer the soldering iron at the moment. However I need high temperatures for both ways. The FETs I am desoldering don't need t...

Re: MXUS 3000 caliper clearance

The IS2000 to PM 8‘‘ adapter made by Formula is 10.7mm thick and fits.
The same adapter made by Shimano is slightly thicker (10.9mm) and also fits.

Re: MXUS 3000 caliper clearance

Today I have modified a mechanical disc brake rotor with the angle grinder. Now it fits also without the disc spacers. I have enough clearance for any disc size, but I plan to go for a 203mm disc. Where the adapter would sit, I have about 12mm space between the frame and the disc and dont want do ad...

Re: Looking for robust 24'' rim

Are there any tools to measure spoke tension for the short spokes used on big hub motors?
Is anybody using such tools?

Re: MXUS 3000 caliper clearance

Earlier in this thread was written that mechanical brakes have 2mm clearance. But I am not aware of any mechanical brakes with such a clearance.

Thanks. I finally had time to watch it yesterday. In this video they lace it alternating.

Re: MXUS 3000 caliper clearance

In this case it is not possible because a bigger rotor would have contact with the frame. And I don't want to add washers because I don't want to spread it further. I think the only hydraulic brake that has enough clearance is the Magura Gustav M. Are there any mechanical brakes that have enough cle...

Re: Looking for robust 24'' rim

So the way to go for a mxus 3k size hubmotor with centered flange in a 24'' rim is to lace it with all elbows out, correct?

Re: Looking for robust 24'' rim

I will try Maxxis Minion DHF 24x2.4 DH.

When lacing a motor with centered flange, what exactly speaks against lacing alternating elbows in and out?

I already trimmed them, but I think that will make cornering grip worse. I did not find a comparable 24x2.5-2.8 tire so far.

Re: Looking for robust 24'' rim

My motor had 4mm spoke holes and I was not happy also with using 2 washers, so I drilled 2.7mm holes (very tight, maybe 2.8mm would be better) for 13ga spokes. Lacing with elbow in on the left and elbow out on the right gave the right amount of dishing that I needed for this motor. Unfortunately the...

Re: Looking for robust 24'' rim

Thanks a lot for the info. I will do it the way you say for this motor because I require some dishing. I have another 45H motor here which has an asymmetric motor case, but a centered flange, so that one would not require dishing. What is the way to go if no dishing is required? Alternating or all e...

Re: Looking for robust 24'' rim

I am using 13ga Sapim spokes for this motor, and maybe 13/14 butted spokes for the next one.

Would you lace it with the spoke elbow to the outside for all spokes or alternating?

Re: Looking for robust 24'' rim

I am going to drill smaller holes for 13ga spokes tomorrow.

I have 13ga Sapim spokes and 4mm nipples here (cannot use 5mm nipples with this rim).
According to ebikes.ca it would be better to use 13/14ga butted spokes instead of the 13ga spokes.
What do you think?

Upgrading FETs in KT Controller

I use a 40amp 12FET KT Controller for my slower bike (52V, 2kW). It easily gets hot under repeated acceleration or uphill. It uses STP110N7F6 MOSFETs. Vds: 68V, Rdsonmax: 6.5mOhm Datasheet: https://www.st.com/resource/en/datasheet/stp110n7f6.pdf I plan to upgrade to IPP020N08N5 FETs (Vds: 80V, Rdson...

Re: MXUS 3k (clones) max copper fill

How would one even inspect to ensure the winding count is right, 24 wraps instead of 21 wraps. Pheewwww I dunno. That's easy. Just open it and count the strands. They just made a mistake writing down 24x3T. It only has 21 strands. Although winding it 24x3T should be possible I think. The clone howe...

Re: Looking for robust 24'' rim

I am planning to lace a MXUS 3k into a 24'' SAS rim. I have never built a wheel before. My friend in the local bike shop is on holidays at the moment. Would 13ga DT Swiss Champion spokes in a one cross pattern be a good idea? Is it possible to get the spokes in the correct length somewhere or do I h...

MXUS 3k (clones) max copper fill

I recently had a MXUS 3k 3T clone here. Unfortunately it only had a M14 axle although advertised with M16 axle, but it had significantly less phase-to-phase resistance than the original mxus v3 3T (including phase wires 55mohms vs. 67mohms) Both are winded 21x3T (the original mxus has 24x3T written ...

Re: MXUS 3k noname Cover Plates

It should not be a big problem for a local bike shop to lace it into a rim, I think. By the way, I had a MXUS 3k 3T clone here, unfortunately only with M14 axle (was advertised with M16 axle). It had about the same Kv like the original MXUS, but phase to phase resistance was way lower (59mohms inste...

Re: MXUS 3k noname Cover Plates

Just enter „mxus 3k“ in google and it should be the first result (Austrian website)
If it is 399, it is probably already in a rim, but you can also find some for 340-350euros in a rim.
