I'm pretty torn here about what to do here. What would you guys do in my situation?
I'd make sure the triangle pack fit and get that one. I wouldn't hide it in a bag though; just fabricate a mount and put it on display.

Re: To turn on kt controller is LCD required?

This is probably a dumb question but for the KT controller do you have to use one of the LCD screens for it to work? I just got one and working on getting the phase wires connected but I'm not sure if I need one of the LCDs for it to turn on. I have the Bluetooth module but it has no power which ma...

On level ground, probably not. Climbing a 15% grade, yes.

Re: Battery Pack Break-in?

Would another way to telling how far out of balance the pack is, is by measuring the voltage in the morning after the BMS has done its thing to see what the voltage drop is? In other words, reading about how the BMS transfers some of the charge from the group(s) that achieved a full charge to the g...

Re: Battery Pack Break-in?

That sounds like a balancing procedure. I don't think it will hurt. If you have a way to measure individual cell voltages, you could see if it even needs balancing or not. Would another way to telling how far out of balance the pack is, is by measuring the voltage in the morning after the BMS has d...

Re: My econo-e-bike

I think ebikes are not allowed on Mt.Tam. I ride up the back side of China Camp (Scettrini Fire Road). It's outside the park and so steep you hardly see other bikes. On the regular trails, I think ebikes are permitted, but I haven't checked recently. Last time I was there some lycra guy came speedi...

Re: What motor would you install in bmx bike?

And for the record i have no qualms about motorizing this bike, i just didnt want to have to spread the dropout out of laziness and fear of not having the right tools or doing it wrong I was so lazy with my last frame, that I looked around my garage, and ended up putting my dropouts on either side ...

Re: What motor would you install in bmx bike?

I thought about converting a BMX at one point, but most of the used bikes I looked at had a single piece (Ashtabula) crank, which was a non-starter for mid-drive without custom adapters. Can't tell by the pic, but maybe yours has a normal three piece crank and bottom bracket? This guy used a big hub...

It it a factory bike, or a bike someone converted? Were the old lights being powered by the buck converter too?

Re: Factory Ebike for kids???

At first thought, it would seem a 20" folder would grow with a kid, but then you gotta think of kids jumping off hills and pulling wheelies with these bikes. I think you need a stought 20" frame to hold up to what kids will do, All this folding stuff would just break. Maybe a Q100H or G31...

Re: Battery Pack Break-in?

Sounds like it wouldn’t do any harm at this point. The procedure went something like charge to full, remove the charger, let the battery rest/balance over night, bleed/ride off a little charge, let it cool, charge to full, repeat. Said it could take a few cycles, but it didn’t describe too well how ...

Img_1013A.jpg Your battery looks as custom a fit as possible! Trails are OK here but mainly really convenient for me. My next trip over to your side of the bay will likely be on my regular mountain bike. I haven’t ridden Mt Tam in 5 or 6 years, but have a lot more time now (kids out of the house). ...

It seems like the bikes mentioned are old and quite difficult to find for sale. Are there any other that are newer retailing for about $1000 new or used thst can be found on ebay or craigslist that can fit a large triabgle battery? Where are you located? I see those Trek Fuels come up on Craigslist...

Re: My econo-e-bike

You should absolutely go for more battery, it is so fun! Rolling on the throttle with 72V+ is a total rush. Hot off the charger at 83V, my bike is more like a electric dirt bike, spins the back tire on gravel and goes blowing up hills like they're not even there. The only side effect of more batter...

Battery Pack Break-in?

I'm wondering how many folks follow a break-in procedure with a new battery pack (lithium ion). I came across an article on an e-bike blog that described a break-in procedure, similar how you needed to break-in a new motor in the old days (don't discharge at high rates or tax the battery in any way ...

You have to throw quality into the mix. I'd rather lean deep into a corner on a hardtail with well tuned front suspension than a full suspension Walmart special with no compression or rebound dampening.

Just looking at the pic and blowing it up, it looks like he has at least one silver colored spacer in there to achieve that 1 mm of clearance. Could be just the lighting.

Could be individual washers too.

Re: Question about battery for Ebike

If you haven't ordered stuff yet, don't. Reading this and a few other recent threads, it's looking more like the forum isn't being asked to advise on a future decision, but to validate/affirm a decision that's more or less been made, which is fine. Regardless of how sage the advice is, there's some...

Turned out great. Did you meet your long range goals? Must have a heck of a range.

PS. How do you like those Holy Rollers? I'm thinking about getting a pair and maybe mounting them tubeless. Did you black out the logos, or did they come that way?
