Re: Oh boy.. it finally happened. Ypedal gets a smoker !

No kidding. My social conscious just wouldn't allow something that noxiously polluting and noisy in certain areas nor certain times of day. I would definitely not being taking the sidewalk ever nor other "sensitive areas" (Like trails, parks, school property, etc.), and I wouldn't take it o...

IGuprRjzVZM There's a subaru robin 4 stroke kit in action. Keep in mind that people consider the 4 stroke engines to be quiet...... lol. Those motorized bikes seem slow and torqueless compared to our EV bikes. I was considering one because of the simplicity level. Seems like riding something that g...

Re: Solar Panel theft

remember copper wiring...being stolen? Recently in new construction tracts, unemployed people who sleep all day and prowl all night, will break into a half-completed house, and then tear out the walls to chop out copper plumbing pipe. looked like it had been done with bolt-cutters. I'm guessing the...

Re: Oh boy.. it finally happened. Ypedal gets a smoker !

Frown. 2 strokes pollute 10-25 times as much and get worse fuel economy. Come on, they burn oil by design! You could have bought a complete subaru-robin kit for $400. It would have polluted far less than a car ( even without a catalytic convertor ) and pulled 200-250mpg.. By the way, no small 2 stro...

Any hot item that's worth a lot of $$$ will be stolen.. remember copper wiring and catalytic convertors being stolen? yikes. I wish we had better job opportunities here in the USA. Then people wouldn't think twice about resorting to shit like this. It's sad..... even worse when we're talking about g...

The youtube link think is weird, it took me a bit to figure out what was going on since the explanation was not clear. I didn't know that i needed to remove the extra php variables at the end of the video ID. So if you have a link like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzNhaLUT520&feature=rel...

Re: Shimano Total Electric Power System (STEPS)

If they made a more powerful version of this, i'd pick it over the lightweight/low power build i'm doing anyday.. I like the sleeper effect, the integration, and the no hassle of the whole system.

But it will probably be cost-prohibitive. So i'll take my $700 10ah 37v build instead :)

Re: store bought or home made?

I went on Golden Motors.ca and did the build my own kit and it came out to $1095 (USD like the other stuff on the site?) and that's without a bike but they also sell their ebikes too. EDIT I'll have to run this build thing again as 'the best kit on GM' only comes out to $788 so I must be doing some...

^-- what he said. iCharger + zippy flightmax is what i'm going with. You can balance charge two 5s packs with the 1010b+, which is pretty damn convenient. That's why i selected that voltage. They also make some 10s packs, which seem overly expensive.. but they are something to consider for the pure ...

Re: store bought or home made?

I second that; i'm going to be in for a total of $800 ( $100 for a used bike, $700 for parts ) for a bike with power output similar to a store bought ~$2000 ebike.. On pure price alone, there is no competition. If you are a geeky guy you also end up with a better product since these ebikes are still...

Re: China's Future

Peak oil is going to rape them, IMHO. All it would take is for the cost of that 'bunker fuel' they use for shipping things to the USA to rise 1.5x-2.0x and suddenly they're no longer competitive! Then they have to start making quality products to compete like Japan does.. Then we can have our crappy...
