Re: DD Motor Running Rough

I used 120 degrees Celsius limit at the windings in the past. After that I gradually increased up to 135 degrees. I was worried more about the magnets (rated 120 degrees), but noticed no Kv change at all. Yesterday after opening the motor I removed all the wooden pieces (except near there hall senso...

DD Motor Running Rough

Today I had rough running and higher than usual drag on my 3kw DD motor (with Statorade+Hubsinks). I push up to 20kw bursts through it and allow up to 135 degrees Celsius at the windings (thermal foldback starts at 110) and motor was close to 135 on this ride. However it is not the first time it has...

Thermally conductive Paint

I plan to paint the inside of my hub motor side cover black and glue a heatsink to the outside of the sidecover.
Are there any paints with good thermal conductivity?

Method to tune Current Regulator of FOC Controller

I always determined Ki and Kp of the current regulator by trying.
Is there also a more professional approach to do this?

Potting windings on a hub motor

Has anybody tried to pot the windings of a 3kw DD hub motor with thermally conductive epoxy/silicone? Was there a sigificant improvement in combination with Statorade+Hubsinks compared to Statorade+Hubsinks only? Obviously on a hub motor it is not possible to build a thermally conductive bridge to t...

Re: Bafang RM G310?

Ok, 25A phase limit on a 8T winding (or is it 10T 8.5Kv?) is very conservative.
Is there some ATF leaking or everything tight?

Re: Bafang RM G310?

@TDB: Did you manage to do 7000km with one set of gears? Did you add oil to it? I also limit to 350wheel-rpm, foldback at 90C, cutoff at 120C (but never been higher than 110C), temperature sensor added next to the speed sensor. Which winding version do you have and how many phase amps? My G310 is a ...

Re: BBS02 Improving Heat Dissipation

I still don't get it why an external controller should be a bad idea on this motor. I am not planning to run more amps through it than stock, cooling should be way better than on an internal and I read a lot about controller failures with the stock controller probably due to overheating and high fai...

Re: BBS02 Improving Heat Dissipation

Thank you for the replies. I am still waiting for the motor. I think I will definitely add thermal compound, but not sure if I will also do the heatsink mods. I got a BBSHD (with a BAC855) and I don't know about the RPM of the BBS02, but you want to make sure it runs at a higher RPM. When you put a ...

Re: Bafang G310 geared hub - 11:1 reduction ratio!!!

12T and 13T seem to be "standard" for the G310. I think the faster windings are only available at Grin.

Take care with the phase amps on your 13T. 30A phase results in the same torque as 39A phase on a 10T. My planetary gears only survived about 200 miles running 30A phase on a 13T.

BBS02 Improving Heat Dissipation

I recently ordered a BBS02 which should arrive soon. An external ASI low power controller will be used instead of the internal controller. I will also add a temperature sensor to the motor. Which maximum phase current do you recommend for the BBS02? At which motor temperature should foldback/cutoff ...

Re: Compact 400-500A Fuses

If I take a look at the diagrams in the datasheet, I think even a 200A fuse would be okay when running peaks around 270A battery which only last for a few seconds. And I think a 80Vdc fuse should also be okay for a 22S battery because the voltage sag would bring it below 80V. Is there somewhere a ta...

Re: Stronger Motor Magnets

I am wondering if the motor would saturate at less phase amps after upgrading to stronger magnets. If it just depends on the amp-turns, it would still start to saturate at the same phase amps (so at a higher torque).

New 45mm magnet height, 3kW direct drive hub motor. Motor design is same as mxus 3k, but with higher copper fill ( - > lower phase-to-phase resistance, so a bit more power and higher efficiency). Anybody knows how to disassemble a BAC4000? The controller I need to repair was the only one not bought from ASI, but from this scammer here who opened this thread. So I need to repair it myself. Never received a reply from him after it stopped working over a year ago.

Re: Some Motors Incompatible with Statorade / Ferrofluid cooling?

I think the first theory is the most realistic one. On the second picture you can also see little points of rust on the aluminium cover plate. Probably some of the iron-based particles of the ferrofluid got there. The bearings (both the original Chinese ones and the ones I use) are sealed on both si...

Re: Some Motors Incompatible with Statorade / Ferrofluid cooling?

So maybe the problem was caused by sealing the cover plates which I did when I added the Statorade.
I might need to drill a vent hole which would be opened after riding to let any moisture escape.

Re: Some Motors Incompatible with Statorade / Ferrofluid cooling?

What you see on the pictures are the interior sides of the bearings. On the exterior sides there was only very little rust even after 1.5 years of use. My side covers are sealed so the only way for moisture to get inside the motor would be via the cable. However so far I never noticed any moisture w...

When I was using XT90S antispark connectors with a 22S lipo battery, the connector usually started to spark after about 10 or 20 connections.
