Re: Cordless Tool Packs (DeWalt 60V in Particular)

Any idea what kind of current the greenworks pro 80 V 2Ah battery can source? What about the 4Ah?

Re: Ultimate BBSHD Grin Phase Runner FOC 3000W

Decided to convert my Phaserunner BBSHD bike to a single speed (28T front, 20T rear) for better chainline and simplicity. I've only had a chance for one test ride, but it seems like it can't take WOT off the line like it could before (36T front, 16T rear). That is really odd. So you have lowered th...

Re: Ultimate BBSHD Grin Phase Runner FOC 3000W

I'm curious how the stock BBSHD gets around this issue? Is it always slightly engaged or is the throttle programmed to engage at low torque prior to ramping up? Matt I hope we are talking about the same issue. My understanding is that because the Phaserunner is a current controller as opposed a vol...

Re: Ultimate BBSHD Grin Phase Runner FOC 3000W

Anyone here have a recommendation for dealing with motor "judder" or "stutter" that occurs with the BBSHD/Phaserunner combo when resuming throttle after coasting? From what I've gathered reading around here it isn't trivial to solve. Best suggestion I saw was from Justin and rec...

There is a lot of 17" steel VOLOCI wheel sets(front/rear) on EBay for a great price of $100 a set free shipping! This is not my sale, just spreading the word! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Set-of-Voloci-electric-bike-wheels-17-DOT-Moped-rims-on-Bicycle-Hubs/142464673159?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT...

Re: Compact Field Oriented Controller, ASI + Grin, limited r

I got it working. So I went back to the other battery pack that was just a hair under 84 volts and went through a few rounds of unplugging the battery, plugging it back in, disconnected the USB TTL cable to the PR a few times, reconnected, then was able to auto tune. So I auto tuned using the slight...

Re: Compact Field Oriented Controller, ASI + Grin, limited r

I'm running the Phase Runner on a BBSHD with a CA V3. With a 14S pack, everything runs great. Auto tune ran with no problems. But when I try a 21S pack and turn the throttle, I get nothing. I tried autotune again, and I keep getting "motor not detected! please ensure that all 3 phases are conne...

Re: Compact Field Oriented Controller, ASI + Grin, limited r

If using the phaserunner to power an RC motor (Astro 3215), will there be any concerns of ripple currents if I'm running at the ragged edge of 90 volts? Or is there some internal mechanism to protect against that? I know the Castle Creations guys add extra caps when they're running close to the 50 ...

Re: Compact Field Oriented Controller, ASI + Grin, limited r

I just installed this on a BBSHD. If I'm coasting without any motor or pedal power, then engage the throttle, the motor spins up to almost full speed before it clunks and the freewheel engages. I assume this is just an artifact of current control vs voltage control where it always wants to spin at f...

I'll try to post some pics too ;) Disclaimer: measurements may be (and some definitely are) inaccurate. I did not bother with all small features like internal ribs for covers, rotor etc. May help someone to get better overview of the motor. Wow, thanks for putting those together! That is beautiful....

I have thought of doing the same thing. Mount the BBSHD like the Cyclone. It would fix the chainline too.

Re: LR Direct Drive Genesis

Love this build. I think from one of the videos you posted back a while ago, it's not too loud either. Is all the noise just coming from the chain? If I were to do something similar but make it belt drive, would it be almost silent? Or is there quite a bit of motor whine?

Re: Klein Mantra Cyclone build - Going for PAIN!

There are my 3 Walmart EverStart car jumper packs on the bottom right. They each have a 3s 11.1v 4,000mAh Lipo inside. EverStart claims a 400A capability. B.S. I'd say 200A max on Peak. They cost me $5 each. Not really too worried about them. That's killer for $5 a pop. Was that a clearance deal or...

Re: LMX P2 : Freeride trials motorcycle frame development

I would be happy to help beta test two of those 10S6P units. 1) Can I get it without the BMS? I prefer to do my own cell monitoring with a cell-log and use an RC charger. 2) Can I fill it with just 4P if I have to and leave some spaces open? I know I will obviously have lower current capabilities a...

Re: LR Direct Drive Genesis

Let's hope you don't get hit with customs! So, are all of these motors basically the same? Meaning the Cyclone is the BHT with a gear reduction, Lightening rods has a different motor shaft and the BHT doesn't have a gear reduction. Makes sense, as they all have such a similar housing design. Obviou...

Re: Getting the best chainline with the bbshd

And now you know why IGHs are becoming popular for use with the BBSHD. Even if the chainline is off a bit at least you don't have to ever move it from one sprocket to another. Yup. I had an N171 for a while and had a perfect chain line and perfect "shifting". But I didn't like the weight ...

Re: Getting the best chainline with the bbshd

I've gone ahead and ordered the 30T Mighty Mini to see how it behaves on my bike. Hopefully, moving it out 1 or 2 cogs will keep it from jumping. It'd be nice if it would run smoothly with the whacked-out chainline but somehow I don't think that will be the case. The chain line will be even more wh...

Re: More Newbie Questions

I'm strongly considering purchasing the Luna BBSHD kit for my bike and I've got a few questions before diving in. 1. Can I reuse the crank arms that are currently on my bike, or do I have to use the ones supplied with the kit? 2. From what I've read, there is general disdain for the heavy steel cha...
