Re: Electric kart

Have already long time thinking of changing my kart frame to a better one. My current frame is from the year 2014 and was then bought used (I was rookie then and it was worn already from bottom). So now this happened: BentRearShaft.jpg Was my own fault and I do not know what I was thinking to get th...

Re: Electric kart

I measured diod parameters from other side and used similar parameters random diod. My diod that I used was bigger and I used wires to solder it there. PS! these chargers are delicate ones. The first one is tosted at the end as I inputed there 51V. Second one I also burned because disconnected wrong...

Re: Electric kart

Took the kart to another track and let a professional driver race it, accelerator wire got stuck and so he could not get the best out of it, but his time were still around 2s better than my  . His laps: My laps: Torque was tuned ...

Following :) That Motenergy ME1302 does not like a lot of current. In my test with 100V I found out that 18kw-23kw is what it can work with. Why did you not use the newer Motenergy ME1616 motor? Your battery idea is great, I was thinking the similar for my 4th battery for 35kw peak system (would lim...

36V (3x12V) Pb battery replacement

Got one old scooter to my son who is going to university. But it had 3x12V 12Ah Pb battery inside that only allowed around 12km of range. And the charger was 1,5A, so 8h to fully recharge again. Goal was to put the replacement battery to the same place so I had size restriction. After calculation I ...

Re: Electric kart

That is amazing that voltage drop so positively affects motor temperature. And when you look at this graph it is understandable why it is so. There is less current to field weakening (the current that does not make torque but just heat) the blue one. Motor current is around the same spot (orange one...

Re: Electric kart

Did some analysis and comparing lipo and lifepo4 battery. Found one strange but logical thing. With lifepo4 battery motor temp was 8 degrees higher after the race. Even with lipo we raced 10 laps but with liepo4 only 9 laps. LifePo4vsLiPoMotorTemp.jpg Also with lifepo4 9 laps + 1 warmup and 1 cooldo...

Re: Electric kart

There was another amateur race series (not endurance jet) but sprint instead. 9 laps and i raced with rotax max and dd2. Lipo battery handled very well. There was some problem with canbus data recording, it seems that tabled just lost connection to canbus in 3 races and i only got data when i raced ...

......But with my calculations and test (I tested 25kw gap in the same track and got 1,6Ah or 1,6kwh per lap) I would consume about 80Ah or 80kwh of energy...... ???..i suspect you missed a decimal point out of your kWh figures > :bigthumb: Yes, you are right. Re: Electric kart

Did modification to my windows logging software, so it could now automatically detect what battery pack is installed. There will be endurance race at the end of month, 50 laps in a 1km track. I need to cap my performance so that i could drive 50 laps and not overheat my motor. But with my calculatio...

if you have 2 sets of winding it should work Planned but low priority, i heard only 3 people requested it so far If you will implement it in near future, will it also be available with current versions via firmware upgrade? Re: 30Ah 28s LiPo from 7s bricks

January 2019 I tested one of my 7s 5Ah brick with 70A As you can see that after 3 minutes my duo 4010 stopped discharge because of cell voltage went under 3,5v under load. I must admit that it was not charged to 4,2v but to 4,1v so there can be a little bit more inside :) And as I said earlier I got...

Re: 30Ah 28s LiPo from 7s bricks

I used in practice 5,37Ah and in 1st race 6,44Ah, so together 11,81Ah. Battery should be 35Ah but when I tested one brick with 70A then usable was around 3,6Ah, that makes usable in whole battery 25,2Ah :) And as cell voltage after 1st race were around 3,81v i tought that i let lipo be in storage vo...

Re: Electric kart

Went to race lately, it was special race as we used obstacles and only 3 laps each race. All together 1 practice and 3 races. I used at practice and first race my lipo battery and 2nd and 3rd race my smaller lifepo4 battery. There was no elecricity in that track :( And it seems that lipo has more po...

Re: 30Ah 28s LiPo from 7s bricks

Tested lipo pack in kart track. Was not regular race but special event, only 3 laps + tire warmer lap. But it seems that voltage drop was very minimal. 558A was max i got on that track (because of the obstacles) and with that voltage was 103,43V. At beginning of the race voltage was 114,51v but max ...

Re: Sevcon, subsidiary of Borg Warner

How about a wrecked zero motorcycle? You can get from there motor + controller that are already working together, so no need to program the controller. You can use twist throttle also with a kart if you want :) If you make a similar voltage battery that zero has (if battery is broken on wrecked zero...

Actually when racing I do not have time to look at my tablet at all. I have cycle analyst in my wheel and in straights i can see how many Ah I have used, but thats also not important anymore, because I know how many Ah i'm using per lap. I have low voltage cutoff configured in sevcon and that is eno...

Re: 30Ah 28s LiPo from 7s bricks

Yes I'm. But zeva bms is not stand alone product. And for me it is just perfect because of that. You need some kind of master communication unit, zeva bms just listens commands and outputs information through canbus. Also it's balance current is very small, but it's not revelant for me. I have 9 pcs...

Re: 30Ah 28s LiPo from 7s bricks

Changed my zeva measurements wires to eliminate false reading due voltage drop between pack interconnections.
And now I can measure what is voltage drop between my packs that are connected to 7x8AWG wires.
Actually lipo bricks have 10AWG wires itself :)

Re: 30Ah 28s LiPo from 7s bricks

It is actually the same weight as my 2,5kw lifepo4 pack. My small lifepo4 pack has also had over 600A output. The voltage drop were yes a little bit higher in lifepo4 but then lifepo4 does not have voltage drop when it gets empty as does lipo. Yes I measured tempereture in outside of the lipo but th...

Re: 30Ah 28s LiPo from 7s bricks

Made a quick test today, just one stright road and two accelerations. But it behaved ok (just need to add 3 extra wires for measuring 2,3,4 bricks first cells, right now these showed lower than the rest). So 102,25 Voltage with 615,38 Ampers will do 62922,605 Watts from the battery, biggest amount I...
