All of Southwestern Skywarn has been requested to activate through this afternoon for critical weather reports.
Thunderstorms have developed over the San Gabriel mountains and are moving SSE towards Orange County.
Watch for heavy rain, lightning and small hail in these storms.
Send your reports in via the web at https://inws.ncep.noaa.gov/report/
These reports are immediately displayed on the forecasters computer screen.
You can also call the NWS San Diego Spotter hotline number at 1-800-240-3022 or later today via HAM radio on the Santiago Peak repeater at 448.040(-) PL 136.5 once it is staffed.
Please report the following...
Flooding
Rainfall: How much rain in a given time (e.g., 1 inch in 20 minutes). Rainfall rates (e.g, 4 inches per hour) should not be reported
Flooding: urban streets, ponding of water in low lying areas or poor drainage
Flash Flooding (swift moving and greater than 6 inches). Report flooding that is threatening life or property or disrupting traffic.
Wind
Gust of > 40 mph, and all wind related damage (e.g., trees or power poles down)
Tornadoes
Funnel clouds, waterspouts or any "rotating" cloud, in contact with ground (tornado) and confirmed injuries or damage
