my father uses a plug RCD on his electric lawnmower.....when the RCD is switched off/unplugged, this trips the houses breaker.

what could be causeing this? a faulty plug RCD, bad house wiring?

note: i have a similar plug on my stick/arc welder and this causes no problems.

thanks in advance
jim

Does this in turn trigger the 'test' button to turn it off? Diverts a small amount of power from active to ground, causing an imbalance between active and neutral.

I think active is called HOT in the US?
