Voltage/Current shaping controllers

Hey guys I am searching for information about voltage shaping controllers, I've read research regarding signal shaping for torque ripple reduction but what I'm trying to do is keep the current input to the coils a true sine wave while adjusting the voltage input, I've run FEM simulations for a prototype motor I've designed and depending on what kind of input I put to the coils, -current or voltage input- I get very different results.
