Oximeter worth its weght in gold  costs under $20 on ebay.
my normal is 97%
found out when you get below 83% they may put you on a ventilator (if available)
I'm not sick, but if i catch it, i'll just test my oxygen level. (can have heart, kidney, etc failure below 83%)

Wow! Great solution to a nonexistent problem cuz all these really sick people haven't already been deciding to seek medical care on their own because they feel like shit and can barely breathe.

over 90% get better at home.
i assume everyone knows to call the hospital and discuss before going. :D

I was cursing Samsung because they had removed the spo2 function from shealth on the galaxy phones, but was able to download an older version to get it back.

Been hovering mid to low 90%'s with the occasional dip into the high 80's when things start really feeling labored and my breaths tend to get more shallow. A few slow deep well considered breaths is usually enough to get it back within spec, though I do wonder what my overall average might be since this is more of a snap shot rather than constant monitoring.

Handy though, for sure.

Couple tanks of o2 from the welding supply store, a regulator or two, some tubing, full face shield, probably some shoe goo. Few hundred?

Hey Matt, what does an "oximeter" do exactly? It sounds like an interesting home tool that may be useful, but I want to understand a bit more.

it's used to check your blood oxygen level.. (my dad had to use one due to COPD chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.. died anyways but you could see why, organs starved of o2 shut down:(..

Its that thing they put on your finger at the doctors office. Sold out at walgreens along with all the thermometers in my town, if you are looking for one. On line might still have them.

Best first test still temperature, but apparently lots of people spread covid long before running a fever. This is true of regular colds and flu as well, but maybe not for as many days.

Personally, I'm checking my temp daily. With the trees blooming in my yard, I'd never notice if I had a cold right now. I go to bed nearly every day thinking this might be it, but after a night with filtered air, I wake up ok. 5 min in the yard will do the trick though, of convincing me I have covid.

I do wish I had the device now, to help decide if its 911 call time or not, when I get it.

E bay has them, mostly from china. Found a reasonable priced one in Brooklyn. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Choicemmed-FDA-CE-FingerTip-Pulse-Oximeter-Monitor-Blood-Oxygen-SpO2-OLED-Color/142158177776?epid=1902312990&hash=item211949a5f0:g:RucAAOSwal5YDOKl

We'll see if it comes. Then drench it in Lysol when it comes. Lots of obviously gouging sellers. :x

Look at the back of your phone. Samsung Galaxy S6 measures blood oxygen level.

Fwiw I had to uninstall Samsung Health and reinstall version 6.4 (got it from apkpure) to re-enable the functionality on my S10+. They removed it from more recent versions of the app, at least in Canada, for reasons.

Prophetic lecture, 12 years old, could of been made today.
How to prevent pandemics:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_ppXSABYLY

Reminded me that sunlight kills the virus. Say i order stuff online. I'll put it in the sun for 1/2 hour, turn over, and another 1/2 hour.
Back in the 1960's my dad had a chicken farm. coop had a row of huge windows on the south side. chickens loved the sun, no cages; run free. Huge work to be done to prevent future pandemics. I don't eat chicken anymore. 1st step anyone can do, don't buy their cheap factory farm crap.
.
Here Dr Vuong explains how covid-19 can kill

could skip to 20 min if you are in a hurry

See posts by "Random Logic" some others too.
lots of naysayers, but very hopeful of a cure/treatment

here is a good decontamination video- 70% rubbing alcohol GREAT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UdtKssU7po

so i went to the store today :thumb:
i reviewed the facts for my city NSB FL of 20,000 residents only 2 tested +. Hospital has not seen anyone with covid19 :bigthumb:
i wore gloves, avoided everybody, and told cashier to throw away receipt. kept as far away as possible and no small talk.
at home, let food sit in the sun for 1 hour and the bottom of my shoes, all day in the sun.
This whole thing is like a really bad movie
Reminds me of hurricane reporting- they always make it look like the entire area was destroyed, they never show whole sections in great shape.
stay safe :bolt:

They put you on oxygen. Vent is used only if you can't maintain >80% or so saturation on O2.

So i ordered a KN-95 mask on ebay 7.99. The K means it is made in china. it is not approved in the US, so they sneak them in i guess. it is shipped from CA. Tests show the legit KN-95 pass, but they could also send a cheap knock-off. here is one with a higher % https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-5-10-pack-of-95-KN-Face-Mask-Respirator-Personal-Protection-Cover/254560966818?hash=item3b450418a2:m:m0AnGJ7z_aUKnxY3T9OcmqQ
It is a $1 mask sold for 7.99, so they really don't need to make it cheaper
.
Dan, did you get the oximeter? :bolt:

Oxygen saturation worked when the phone was new. Not remembering what I did? Reinstall Android OS during some phone confusion? Now it's gone. Did as HK12K suggested. Its back.

9 times out of 10 it says - Place your finger on the sensor correctly.

99% blood oxygen level
74 BPM

try again

94% blood oxygen level
69 BPM
