4.5" overnight and it's still coming down pretty hard. Season total so far: 7.2" (since last week). Now the wind is blowing pretty hard and the rain is coming down sideways. Not a good day for bike riding. At least my cars got washed off. Forecast still indicates up to 3 more inches, so this one storm system might outdo all of last season. The places where it burned are likely to see debris flows.

Hear the snow up in the mountains is piling up too.

It's like here we need a gentle rain. Don't seem to happen anymore it dry or a flooding event. The water does not get time to sink in the ground it runs off.

Another system moving in tonight. Rainfall estimates seem to keep changing, so I'll have to see what the rain gauge says when it's done. Looking for something over 1", which is good. They've been really getting it in Vancouver.

Dunno if it was the same storm system, but it looks like the flooding took out the big bridges and may have cut that area off for heavy traffic (cargo, etc).

We sure need more rain here. Nothing since the big storm a few weeks ago. I went riding and the soil conditions were great. Not muddy and not dusty. The air quality wasn’t so great though. Seems everyone was burning wood for the holidays. Still made for an interesting picture.

Freakin' gross out here in Utah with the air turning various shades of gray/tan from dust and pollution.

It has been dry as a bone this year. Almost no snow on the mountains at the moment in SLC. Ski industry sweating bullets.

A glance at the arctic sea ice tracker shows that it didn't give up much of it's ice vs previous years:

I don't know about for you folks but the summer here was hot and dry and felt like it went on forever. I think the northern hemisphere kind of missed the swamp cooler effect of the arctic sea ice this year.
