I'd like advice on converting to Rear Caliper and Rotor ... after sorting the HEADSET.
Does anyone have a source for a good quality THREADED 30mm Headset? AHDTD254AK ???

If it helps, here is info on headsets and how to determine which size you actually need:
https://www.parktool.com/blog/repair-help/headset-standards
Particularly:
Threaded headset sizes are designated by the outer diameter of the steering column

This is also a great bike info site that applies:

When I went out to bring-in the recycling bin; I found a motorized scooter free-bee.
Looks decent.
ALL bearing's are shot.
Rear-only brakes l@@k flimsy.
Motor spun nice. No funny noises. Drive belt l@@ks low-miles.

Heres what I got.
Given the remains of what might make a nice gift to my grandson. (I'm 72yrs old. My old lady's way up my rear over adopting this thing and putting $$$ into it.)

Will I need the new front fork's Crown Race pressed on, ... the old one's toast!
AHDTD254AK ???
The YouTube video showing how to swap to a caliper & rotor is scary.

Cheers mates,

You need to keep the discussion in the one thread so it's all together.

First I have to ask the question: Is there too much to buy to make it worth fixing? Perhaps you have enough parts there to motorize something else? Buying these little scooters used to be a hobby for me to get started with this, you may even find one cheap on Craigslist that needs your motor and/or things you have.

Brake upgrades I grew up working on and dabbled a bit with before I was hurt. These little scooters demand it. One solution here on the board: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=110311#p1616566

With the exception of needing bearings everyplace, ... the things in good shape.
The chassis clean. No rash. The deck has some worn-off paint where expected. Could get by with some bling fasteners and a buff-out.
As I get feedback from others, ... I'm tempted to do some mods. I'm going to limit monkeying with it and just pimp it, ... stock.
Three stainless fasteners w/ washers for the deck. Four stainless acorn nuts on the axles. Rattle-can color and clear. Thin, press-on 3M pinstripes here and there. The batteries and charging will be the big expense. But, ... if you have ever stood at the counter below a sign saying: "Genuine YAMAHA Parts" ... you appreciate how reasonably new parts for a scooter are affordable.

2/10
Chassis striped. Sanding as needed.
Relieved small section of chassis to allow for removal of throttle/brake cable when stock terminal ends wouldn't pass through the hole in chassis.

Launched the Scooter I've been restoring this afternoon.

Rode around the block several times. British Racing Green metallic doesn't do it for me in sunlight. External dual-display voltmeter wowed the scooter guys.
Handlebars rattled incessantly from excess lash -- bar-within-bar -- sliding adjustment.
Silenced by using flattened tie wrap as Plastigage™ type filling the imprecise fitting.
Tightening down dual-display voltmeter messed-up painted deck.
Wiring and switching all new.
Bearings front and rear; new. Headset; new!
All fasteners replaced with stainless hardware.
Very minor Special Pimping to be done before gifting scooter to grandson.

Rethinking placement of 20 Amp -- Inline FUSE -- protecting wires and motor with solo 20 Amp Breaker.
2-weeks out fm 2nd shot of Covid-19 vaccine. No side effects!

Stay safe; all ye two-wheelers.
Had fun building this one.
