Normally 1 magnet is 1 pole
Some (rare) motors use pole segmentation, that’s several magnets with same polarity to achieve one pole.
pole count can be checked with a compass
Every north is a pole, every south is a pole
or
a refrigerator magnet on the outside of the rotor.
every push is a pole, every pull is a pole
Count the magnets (check if several magnets have same polarity), it’s that simple.
