Hi !

in 2015 i bought a cheap chinese 36V 500W scooter and welded mounts for 2 crates to it,
as a proof of concept, a prototype to see if this made my workdays easier.

it did, and it served me well for quite a few projects.

But now it may retire and make space for something new.

my plan is to build something more solid, more substantial. design the frame from the ground up, using salvaged parts and self made chassis components, and 2 chinese 48v 800w wheel hub motors for power.

i found a beefy enough steering head on a wrecked 125cc moped at the scrapyard:

and i got an old folding bicycle frame very cheap, the plan is to use the folding mechanism for the steering collumn, for easier transportation and use the saddle and saddle mount.

That’s amazing! How do you find those hub motors? I was thinking about using them on a minibike as their size is perfect. How quick do they push your scooter? Are you running them on 2 controllers?

Hi cargowill,

sorry for the late answer.

I got the two motors as a set from aliexpress. It also included two controllers, throttle, and cable brakes. the throttle input just goes into one controller and the two controllers are linked.

I have the 2x800w 48v version and it does about 40km/h

i hope it is ok to post the link the set, here it is:
