Odd adapter, from ???? to J1772

came across this adapter for sale on ebay

Any idea what standard it's adapting from?

Would this be a straight dumb pass-through, or contain the circuitry required to comply with J1772 electrically, signaling, proximity, safety etc?
 
Looks like the international (non US) Tesla plug.

I'd guess that it's just a dumb adapter and the Tesla is responsible for handling the rest, but I could be wrong.

The top image you posted is J1772, the second one is identical to the other end of the connector on the ebay listing you posted.
 
Yes the first post, first link is to the eBay auction, but it may render as an inline-post picture from your browser.

The second link is a direct URL to the listing photo showing the "from" end of that adapter

which is exactly what this thread is about, asking what the heck it's for.

They both show as plain text-only links on my Android Tapatalk.
