Charging these 48v batteries that go down the downtube behind the seat. How can I tell if it will take a 4 amp charger or maybe 5 amp as it came with a 2 amp charger. What happens if I hook up a 5 amp charger and it can only take 3 amp

48v at what amps?

If they can not take 5A, then at best you overheat them and degrade them. At worst you set them on fire. Any way to figure out the types of cells they are? Manufacture and type of cells?

:D :bolt:

You can make a rough guess from the amp hour size of the pack.
Here's were C rate comes in. If your pack is say 10ah, and you charge it at 10amps, that's 1C.
Most cells I've seen for ebike use are recommended for charging at .5C or less (esp in cold weather), so again for say a 15a/h pack, charging it at 5 amps would be .333C.

I know the sales can take 4 amps breathing sounds but can the BMS support for apps or more what happens if I put too many amps from the charger through the BMS. A melted charge fet.
