Hi all,

Really not sure if this is the right area to post this, please move if I got it wrong

Anyway seems I have got by without one of these for years using ex converted PC power supplies and my trusty Turnigy Accucell but these things seem cheap.

As well as general use and to power my Accucell etc I want for testing/charging individual cells and my 5s and 10s ebike packs. This tells me I need a min of 30v. Current wise would you suggest
3 or 5 Amp min ?

I dont really remember any time I have gone as high as 5A (my Accucel can be used for that) so I think 3A will be enough. Although 30V would probably be ok the 60V ones would be good for bulk charging a complete pack if my
power block charger fails.

I quite like the ones where you can switch output off and on before setting CC or CV.

So these are the choices

The first is cheap VERY and I have seen these as low as £45!

The last two seem to meet my latter requirements. I have been trying this one without fine adjustment and dont like it much so probably want fine adjustment too. The screen is too small
and the buttons too fidly.

I've been using it daily for over a year:http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/141389291960?ul_ref=http%3A%2F%2Frover.ebay.com%2Frover%2F0%2Fe11051.m43.l1123%2F7%3Feuid%3D377121b0c6714fe495088ae3c4652b12%26loc%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fcgi.ebay.co.uk%252Fws%252FeBayISAPI.dll%253FViewItem%2526item%253D141389291960%2526ssPageName%253DADME%253AX%253ARTQ%253AGB%253A1123%26srcrot%3De11051.m43.l1123%26rvr_id%3D0&_mwBanner=1

I would definitely recommend this product

Thanks for the recommendation, looks very good.

This is the 5amp version.

I got the 3a and 5a version.

The 3a is significantly smaller and completely silent. 5a has a light noise but nothing problematic.

Both are good and working fine after a year of use

Pimarily I use Li-ion. I have some old A123 Life cells which I started with but moved to my current packs which are Konion 1.6A. Been running faultless for well for over 3 years. I make and use a small pack either 5s2p or 5s4p which I then put into series for 3 or 6ah 36v packs. All my setups are light for a folding Brompton bike. I use the 18650 cells for all my bike lighting.

Based on that I guess a 30v supply would be fine and as I said no need to go above 3A. I may just buy the cheap one and see how I get on. At worse it can be a source for my Accucell.

I fancy playing around with some later cells Samsung or Panny 2.5-3ah cells though not sure if these are as robust as the Konions which have no BMS and have only been balanced once when I built the pack!

With my ncr18650pf i have been using them daily for almost a year and didn't bakance them. But i didn't use more than 1C

Recently, i've been pushing them over 3c and they start to be slightly out of balance

Lightweight Tonxgin motor that rarely draws more than 5-8A max. All my conversions are for lightweight, light assist bikes :)

I doubt I will ever use more than 42v, 10s given I am not intersted in assistaing more than 15mph.
