Hello!
I have a problem with my cyclone mini (1680W)
My motor began to make a strange sound! Like " drill on a brick" :warn:

I have been using this kit for six months and everything was fine. Battery 48v, kelly controller set 65А.

I unmounted motor and saw problems with gearbox:
1. It is very hard to scroll the sfaft in both directions.
2. Teeth in 2 of 3 satelite gears are heavily worn.
3. In one side teeth absent :(

Time to buy new gearbox, or it can be fixed?
Does anyone guess what the problem is?

P.S. sorry for bad english

No fix for that one.
Problem is too much current from your controller (== too high torque from motor). Either reduce the current or get a more powerful motor/gearbox.

So i need buy new gearbox , and than reduce current?
No way to repair this gearbox?

In cyclone website, they sell separately 3pcs gears for 45$.
But I'm not sure that problem only in gears (they worn out not symmetrically)

Well, theoretically, everything is fixable but it will cost you at least 10x more.

http://cyclone-tw.com/motor.html
Here it lists planetary gearbox for $99 (6th item from the top). I would contact them beforehand, to make sure it will fit your motor. Make sure to ask, whether it includes planetary gears or do you have to buy them separately.

It lasted only 6 months (unknown mileage), so even with better grease than your current one and replacing planetary gears, say at 4rd month, you would only extend the agony for that small motor/gearbox. If you want to keep your current performance (48*65=3120 watts), you really need to upgrade.

Thanks) I will think about a new motor.
But i have all mountings for the 1680w motor. I will have to assemble the bike from the beginning

From cyclones official site : max power 2400w.
2400 / 48v = 50A.
If i will reduce controller power to 50A, everything should be ok?

I have no idea, how long it will last with 50A. I'll bet Cyclone doesn't either. It all depends how you use it.
But it will prolong it's lifetime for sure.

I spoke with technician, and he sad that cause of failure -is broken bearing. Because of it, a heavy load on the gears began

I haven't seen your broken gearbox up close but the bearings in planetary gearboxes should be very reliably since the forces are balanced.

Is your controller very rough and jerky at low speed? That is probably what caused the tooth to break initially. 50A is not a problem if it is applied a bit more carefully by the controller.

Yes, but gears was worn out not identically. So it means there was an imbalance.

I will try to set up smoother power gain :)

Update!!!

I bought a new gearbox from cyclone-bikes.tw
I use best grease Total altis sh2

All was good, but after 300-400km a new strange sound :warn: appeared:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SmdandNeOfL0nelaF_FwOxiocKy4efC9/view?usp=drivesdk

the gearbox is new, and not worn out.
So maybe problem is in motor?

You ever fixed it?
