Hi, I am new here so sorry this might be a simple question - My new controller does not have a port for charging so I will have to directly connect a charging port to the batteries. my question is in the attached drawing.
Thanks.

I would say the switch isn't necessary, but couldn't hurt, as long as it can handle the current internally without arcing.

The charger leads seem ok, but personally I would run it on a separate, lower amp rating fuse, instead of running thru the main fuse, as it might be too high a rating to protect the charger, esp if the motor one is a slow blow fuse that can handle short overloads.

Thanks - I think I will just make a quick connect for the positive going into the controller and unplug it when ever I charge - I will also put a fuse on the charging port, as you suggest, and directly connect that to the positive on the battery - bypassing the main fuse going to the controller.
