I can't get the programming cable anywhere so trying to build one.

I have found information from the manufacturer which shows the trrs side pinout

The document lists FT230x chip on the original cable to do the usb to serial connection.

I have only found and bought ftdi 232rl as in photo

My question is can the Ft232rl replace the ft230x?

Which pins do I connect ? I tried several combinations but the phaserunner app shows not connected in Android .

Here is what info I found in difference of the 2 models Screenshot_20210112_022144.jpg

Sorry, why do you need to build one? Can't you just order one from here https://ebikes.ca/ttl-usb-satiator.html

The more complex 232 chip isn't needed for this cable, just the 230. I don't know if there is any reason the 232 based board won't work; it depends on what it will send back thru the USB (and what's needed from the USB to make it send), if all the handshaking lines aren't used / terminated.

The 230 is used because the cable only uses RX and TX, and none of the handshaking signals. So the only serial wires you hook up to the board will be the four that are marked on the TRRS end, and you hook them up just like it shows.

Whether the one marked TX on the TRRS goes to the TX on the USB, or to the RX, and vice-versa, I don't know for sure, but most likely they'll match. If it doesn't work you just swap them.

If it still doesn't work, connect the TX to the RX (without hooking anything to the PR), and use a terminal program to see if sent characters are then received and displayed on screen. (in some terminal modes, you would get ddoouubblleedd characters).

The link you provide is TRS - USB while the phaserunner uses TRRS USB cable(one more pin essentially).

Good question - I wasn't able to find the cable and sent an email to grin. While I was waiting I figured maybe I can simply build one from the info I posted here. That didn't work although I haven't got round to what amberwolf has suggested.

Meanwhile grin has replied with the link to a cable I can buy online (TRRS) so I am split between finishing what I started and buy & forget etc.

Dear friends,
thank you for your tips. :)

I try many times settings with my CA3s and my Baserunner or Phaserunner devices, so I want for easier access build a stable BLE 4.1 Bluetooth connection via PC or Grins Phaserunner Suite Android App.

Did you maybe have a recommendation, to make this possible via a Bluetooth BLE Module?
(Maybe it should be a Bluetooth Module above Bluetooth standard 4.x, BT 4.x is significantly more inconspicuous in terms of interference than BT 2.x)

I´am not shure if HM-16 oderf HM17 Bluetooth Module fits as an alternative to cable, what Do you think?

See datasheet of HM16 / HM-17 Bluetooth module:
https://www.herman-shop.com/PDF/bluetooth%20hm16%20hm17.pdf

I see, that Laird bl600 BT Module https://www.lairdconnect.com/wirele...-and-40-modules/bl600-series-bluetooth-module provides FT230X USB virtual UART, maybe that is a solution too (but it is only BT 4.0 capatibelity), so i should add only a stepdown regulator from 5V to 3V for operating voltage?
