$10 spot-weld kit?

I'd try to layer each 0.12 pure nickel strip or 0.15 nickel plated steel strip
welding each layer onto the next

or solder on some solid core wiring onto the strips.

I might give it a try as I think I cooked the microwave oven transformer stock windings.
To bad he did not link to "the really good stuff" 0.15 nickel.
 
£20 and with better cables and a bit of solder, I've welded 0.15 pure nickel and 0.2 plated.
It struggled with 0.3 pure nickel at 1600A but I was limited by the battery.
Welder wasn't getting hot, probes needed improvement.
