I started having issues with my Surface604 Shred (2018). When using the throttle, the engine sometimes cuts out (although it works fine with pedal assist) and at medium speed (even when pedaling) I'm getting a strong vibrating noise that stops immediately when the engine turns off (e.g. when braking).

Looking around the web a bit [1], I think I'm looking at a faulty Hall effect sensor.

My question is which hall effect sensor should I get for the Bafang hub motor that's on the bike (Bafang RM G360.500.DC). Will a Honeywell SS411 do? How can I find out what are the right specs?

For the record, I already reached out to Surface604, but they responded that
We generally do not replace the hall sensor on a motor core when it stops working. We usually recommend replacing the motor core. So I am unsure of whether or not this hall sensor will be compatible.

There could just be a connection problem between motor and controller; this is much more common than failed halls. I recommend first checking for those, then testing the halls themselves before replacing them. there are a number of threads and posts around the forum discussing testing procedures for them, and documents at http://ebikes.ca in the learn - troubleshooting section that should help.

Assuming the problem is a failed sensor, then SS41 or 411, etc., as you're almost certainly looking for a latching bipolar hall effect sensor.

Thanks for your quick response! I'll be sure to check the connections before touching the halls.
