Thought I would flash the 3.13x1g GPS firmware onto my CA V3 today as I have a 0183 NMEA receiver in the parts bin.

Has anyone tried this with any success.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Jonno,

I only found out about this firmware today when updating my CA3...

How is the GPS wired into the CA3? I don't have the analogger.

Cheers,

Fraser.

You'd have to look at the Grin site for that specific project, or Justin_LE's posts here on ES about it (if any). The only info I found quickly is this, but there might be more.

The 3.13X1G code allows the CA to read and display data from a NMEA output GPS sensor, including position, elevation, heading, time etc. Normally this would be achieved with a simple modification to the GPS Analogger device by connecting the GPS's output to the CA's serial input line via the existing TRS cable. The data output stream saved by the analogger then includes a single file with synchronized position information which simplifies uploading and viewing on our trip analyzer web application.

Note that this simply displays the data being output at that moment, it is not saved or logged anywhere, without the analogger or some other serial recording device.
