FIRST RIDE!

Here is my Dengfu M09/Luna X1 Build, Bafang M600, i ordered a frame, motorkit and an empty batterybox from the Dengfu factory. I installed 52 Tesla batteries that i took out of a Tesla S90D from the junk yard.

The part of my build that i am most happy about is the decreased fork angle (67 to 65 degrees)/increased Wheelbase, and choosing a fork with a 51mm offset and 170mm travel on 27.5 to further slacken/increase the length of the bike, i think the frame is to steep/cramped originally.

The exact set up I have just been made aware of, it looks perfect!...any idea how many 18650 cells could fit in the battery compartment?

I have emailed them to see about prices etc...would you mind telling me what your interaction with them was like: payment method, speed of turnaround from payment to delivery etc?

I am thinking of trying to get the frame, motor, cranks, wheels etc and battery casing (without cells), basically the whole bike without the battery cells and front fork shipped over and build the rest up from parts I have

Thanks

52 cells fits originally in the battery case, 18650, but there are room for more cells if you dremel out some space.

They are very fast to reply. Great service. I paid extra for fast shipping because of corona shipping delays, worked great.

I bought the frame, motor and empty bat case only, pedal arms are in the motor kit. The frame includes headset bearing, seatpost clamp and the rear wheel bolt/thru axel.

Good luck!

Could you tell me which brand of the headset that you use ?

Superstarcomponents
£49.99 each
Slackerizer Angle Headset - 2 Degree - UK Made
T7-4 EC44/ZS56 120-130mm Taper Steerer this is the one you need. The headtube on the frame is 130mm long. 44mm at the top, 56mm at the bottom. And youre fork is tapered(thicker at lower part of tube), not straight.

Here im riding with a buddy without motor. i tow him uphill twice during this trip. which can be seen in the video. with a www.traxmtb.com towhook that i bought from Italy. Brilliant equipment to have on a trailride if anyone need a tow.

Quick question, when you charge your battery, is the battery power switch in the on or off position?

I just bought an empty batterycase that i filled myself with Tesla S90D cells, so i didnt wire up the on off switch. But my guess which i am pretty sure on would be that you charge it with the on off switch off, the switch is just to get power on the main connection at the bottom off the battery.

Part one and two of another ride i had with this bike. I ride with two nice guys with Santa Cruz Heckler bikes in the second part.

Thanks for that. I was also wondering what charger do you use? The supplied charger from Dengfu crapped out on me when I unplugged and plugged it from the battery while charging (I didn't know there was a protocol on how the connection and disconnection was done).

https://tinyurl.com/y8gdumgn Something like this with a 13s 48v with a 5.5 mm charging plug. I usually plug into the battery first, then the wall, then i remove from the wall, then from the battery. am i doing it correctly?

Part one and two of a ride i did in Norway. In the second part I ride with two other guys that has Santa Cruz Heckler ebikes.

That's exactly how it is to do it. Just made one minor mistake on my part (plugged the 5.5mm lead back to the battery after unplugging it) and the whole charger went kaput. Now only outputs 26V instead of 54.6V.

When you first plug charger to the batterypack is sparks for split second. With prolonged use, there may be a problem with the plug's conduction, If I do alternately, there is no jumping spark. I've never had a problem with the charger.

Got some help on a 18650 facebook group with the layout/pattern on my 48v 13s5p 65pcs 840wh battery that im trying to build as a secondary battery for this bike. Looks like 65 batteries should be able to fit inside the box :)

Good going HerskerHans on the bike. Glad to see you are in the club! I wonder how the headset giving the new angles will compare to the 29" wheel that Kepler did on his Dengfu build? Keep us posted on how the bike performs for you.....wayne

Thanks, im very happy with my 170mm travel 27.5x3.0 fork setup, i would like to try a 160mm travel 29" fork setup too, im gathering parts for a second build now to my gf, 17.5 frame, might try 29" on that.

Dengfu's E10 frame already has a slacker head angle off 66.5 degrees and with a Mullet ( 29er front wheel ) arrangement would be even slacker. Would you need any slacker as the bike will be getting into that dull feel of too slack a head angle that used to be the realms of downhill bikes.

Just about to find out as I've ordered am E10 frame, should be here in a month or two.

I prefer the m09, but the e10 is Nice, how many cells can you fit in the e10 downtube?

Not sure, I would sooner have a minimum weight battery than over weight battery that you would only use 50% on a ride. If we can fit 14S3P of 21700 cells it will be more than enough for my needs.

A question why the M09 and not E10 ?

Have you ever weighed your bike all up less battery ?
