CYC Motor have a new version of the Gen 1 Stealth as of 30th October...

"We’ve done 3 versions of the X1 Stealth Gen 1 with all new orders having a redesigned gearbox for noticeable noise reduction. You do not need to worry about the axle as even the 1st version was completely suited for jumps & we’ve not had a single case of the axle failing with extensive QC since the kit is designed for MTB use"

Oh that's very interesting, the noise was the biggest downside of the CYC kits IMO, be curious to hear some experiences on how much quieter it is.

Thanks marjoriefinnigan.
It tooks ~5 rides to found correct settings from CYC Motor- and Bacdoor-apps to adjust the motor to work smooth and sensitive enough in technical terrain. I'm using street legal mode and the battery pack has power for two hours ride in local forest full of 10 to 40 vertical meter small hills. Stealth motor has helped me to sent many technical spots that I have been trying for years. Freewheel failed after two months use and CYC sent me a new one as a warranty replacement spare.

I test rode the older version and didn't think it was too bad, would have gone for that model, but happy to wait now I know there is the new version. Guessing they have changed the gear teeth in some way either materials or angles. Won't have it till February here in NZ.

Decorative chain guard snapped too easily due failed jump to bench.

I removed thin pinbolts and made M5 threads inside chainring bolts.

Then just bolt-on fastened a more robust bashring to the chainring with spacers.

How did it take you guys to receive your kits after ordering? I ordered the Stealth motor in early July and still nothing after a couple of inquiries to CYC.

I'm a couple of months behind you, hoping for a pre-xmas delivery. I have the battery, but nothing for it to power. Keep us posted. I'm impressed by our patience to wait 3+ months for something you can get in mere days for a competitor product.

I placed the order on October 26, 2021. Checked with them on Nov 10, 2021. They replied that they had a delay in the controllers. After receiving the controllers, ASI (the controller supplier) informed them that they need to recall those controllers. Therefore, the shipment will be delayed. Also, they are working on a plan B, and more details will be announced later this month.

Hello, I am proud of my stealt .. Has anyone had a problem with the hall and temperature sensor? I think I have the first engine output. after 100 km there were problems with hall sensors and temperature reading from space.

Thanks for your reply. With the delay of the controllers, I'm just going to wait. For the price, the Stealth looks amazing. I thought about getting a Bafang, but it sits too low.

Hello.
I keep an eye on this kit, planning to get one as soon as they start delivering again.
I wonder if it would be possible to use a belt drive for the motor to crank transmission.
That could make the system less noisy and require no maintenance on that part, plus it should be lighter as well.
Does anyone know how to calculate an adequate belt conversion for this system?
Gates drive or timing belts?

Hello all,

I've been through this thread and really like this motor.

Currently comparing the Stealth with it's bigger brother; the CYC X1 Pro Gen 2.

Will be running with BAC855 and 72V battery 12Ah battery.

I will be installing it on a hardtail, aimed at aggressive Enduro riding and some jumps.

In your opinion, should I go for the Stealth or the Pro? The Pro rated for 3kW of power seems way too powerful for trail riding, and I don't think I'll be using the full power. It is also 1.1kg heavier than the Stealth, and 200$ more expensive. However, on the road the power will be amazing, with quick and fun acceleration!

Alternatively, the Stealth is cheaper than rated for 1500W continuous which should be amazing on trails, but will be slower on the road, and may overheat especially going up hill.

Any advice on which option to go for? Which motor will handle jumps and aggressive enduro riding better? And which one will last longer when running at 1.5 to 2kW.

On-road, my area has a lot of hills so I also don't want to stress out the motor too much. And even though the Pro is heavier by 1.1 kg, it should dissipate heat much better than the Stealth model.

Any advice?

P.s.
One member pointed out that the more powerful PRO model is great on road but will end up using battery much quicker, which is a real hassle and an overkill for trail riding. It's a large amount of money so I want to make sure I've made the right decision!

I have the Stealth and jump it. I am riding my bike similar to how I had it as a non ebike so not over powered, running Sport mode on my stealth at 400watts and Race at 750watts. Doing long climbs followed by downhill runs not much xcountry.

I find 200-300 watts enough for trail climbs, I get a workout and it gives better range. When I had sport mode set at 750 watts I used level 2 and 3 most of the time as 4 and 5 just took over and chewed the range. I find I don't really use the motor for the downhill. It helps when a bit of acceleration out of a slow berm is needed for the next jump but otherwise the downhill is the same.

Dropping the sport mode to 400 watts has also closed up the levels which makes it better so I can flick through from level 2-5 depending on the climb and not have big jumps in power. This would be good for xcountry as well, where I would use the higher settings to fly through the Twisties.

I have a 38 chainring and 11-36 cluster.

Great to know it can handle jumps

Do uou ever ride it on the street at full 1.5kw power?

I wonder if it'll overheat if it's run at this power continously

Although as you said on the trails average power would be 750 watts and nothing on the downhill

But would be great to use it to fly through xc trails!

Would you upgrade to the x1 pro with 3000 watt if you had the option or stick with the stealth ?

I have the Pro and it seems that when pedaling you can't use much more than 1000W. Maybe more on steep uphills or with long gearing on the streets going way over 30km/h, but mostly it stays under 1000W. And still you're moving with a very good pace for a bicycle.

So would you downgrade to the Stealth, for lighter weight, slightly cheaper price and lower battery consumption?

What voltage do you run? What's your range?
