Anyone familiar with the Shimano STePS e5000 250W middrive motor? I'm looking at a bike with this motor and was wondering how well it performs on steep hills? I'm not looking for a motor with top speeds, focus is more on range, smooth shifting, at somewhat normal bike speeds with help on the hills.

Well, was looking at this bike:

E5000 claims 40nm of torque. The newer ones (E6100) claim 60nm of torque.

The bafang mid drive puts out 120nm torque,

So might be better of retrofitting a bike with one of these given the hills. The con with at least this bafang is it might not feel quite like a bike without the the torque sensor that the Shimano sports.
