Maybe bafang is less efficient than cyc and therefore needs more Watts?

You do know many folk build complete scratch frames for their Ebikes, heavy modifications are not uncommon, so a modification to fit a different mount should not be a barrier.
Lots of bare frame kits available also for these “unified” motor units.
