I like the idea of a belt drive, but don't see a compelling reason to go to one, especially w/ the expense involved. In the desert where I live, all things made of rubber dry out really fast. Looks like it's only good for a single speed setup?
Belts are not limited to singlespeeds. You use them with IGHs and/or IG'd cranksets.
They do require a belt-specific frame, because you can't "break" the belt like you can a chain to get it around the frame. The frame has to be able to be disassembled partially to get the belt on.
