Pas Magnets

What drives the amount of magnets used in the disc? I see several with different amounts of magnets.

More magnets is supposed to yield a quicker response (less lag).
I've never noticed much difference w/ different counts.
Motomech '11 Motobecane Fathom team, Q100H 201 frt. mounted, 14S Multistar LiPoly, elifebike 9-FET 17A controller. Mean Well HLG-320H-54A, Crazy Bobs on Alex DM32's 21 to 22 MPH.

The only lag I'm seeing is when I stop pedaling. The motor continues to run of a bit.
