Check this hub motor emtb out, it has 29" wheels for a measly $698
*I list this only because its a mountain bike, the downside is its a hub motor in a 29" wheel which means it will have lower torque at take off, take a longer time to get up to speed but will have a higher top speed.
Ideally is better to have it in 26" wheels (or smaller), and if an ebike has lead acid batteries then it makes it even worse. The specs in this link state Lithium Ion.

But remember when you buy from your local bicycle store, they are trained in building bicycles, the guy at the department store doesnt care that guy stocks shelves.
