Yahoooooo! I'm there. Time to decorate the bike for halloween. :D It's gonna be fun to see what my battery can do. I only have enough battery for one race though, so I may only be in one of the heats.

Anybody want to sell some old lipo cheap? Like a puffed pack that still works? I'd need 8 more 5s 5 ah or 6 more 6s to get to where I'd have enough battery to run a heat race, and then I will run my 10 ah 24s pack in the main.

I just need some lipo with 4-5 more cycles in it to show em some faster laps in the heat race. I can do warm up laps on my ping with a smaller controller. Charging fast is not really an option this time. Carrying a generator and all that is much more hassle than just bringing more lipo.

Not too much intrest, I guess. It is riding season, not talk about it season.

My new racing bike is up to 45 mph, given a half mile to get the last few mph. We'll see if it can get up to 40 or so on the short straights of the P1 kart track in Tucscon. It should definitely be fast enough to keep up with the fastest ten riders, but not beat the fastest 3-4. We'll see.

We're just jealous and don't want to talk about it. I got my 70lb race-bike going, but it's just too squirrely for me. I don't know how Arlo1 runs high power on that little BMX. I have to lengthen the wheelbase so I can goose it without going to one wheel. I want it to be enjoyable to ride instead of scary as hell. The only fun thing about it is that I've gone up in class and now I can outrun almost all of the delivery moto's that I run across. The regen is working nice too using just the throttle...I let off the throttle and regen braking starts with the intensity varying with throttle position so 0 throttle is full regen. I'm consistently getting 12-13% regen, and I'm sure that would go much higher in race use, so I've got plenty of battery capacity. Riding this little bike the last couple of days has me more convinced that ever that 2wd is the way to go for an XL person like me, so I can put full power to the road without having to lay off to keep the front wheel on the ground. Since there isn't weight limit for the Spooky Tooth racing I can go with with my big hubbies front and back, boost my pack to 2.5kwh, and the gassers wouldn't stand a chance.

Yeah, I'm already starting to think, hmm, if the weight isn't too much, another motor on the back wheel would be nice, to keep the heat down running big watts by dividing it between two motors. So far the front forks are looking up to the task for my 3 kw front hub. I can't pedal through corners at these speeds so a rear hub grabbing too would be nice. I still love front drive cornering.

I can't get used to glancing down at the CA and seeing 3200  watts. Bye bye 1000 watt class.

Zowie, the gassers will see a couple of brisk e-bikes, they'll be bolting in bigger cc chinese 2 strokes 'fore April :x

I missed this thread. I dunno if I can make it, but I am taking a week of vacation sometime in October, so I guess I could take it then, if there is a chance of me at least getting down there and back up here to Phoenix. I'll have to see what day the race is and what the deal is with it and if I can work out a way down there. I doubt I'd be able to really race but should be fun anyway.

EDIT: just noticed something about a weight limit being discussed--if there is one, I couldn't race anyway; nothing I could put enough battery on would be able to weigh that little. :(

There is talk of gassers with a 60 mph top speed already. But we have to stay on all 12 laps to win.

Got the avatar on the gasser forum, from the add attachments window. They have a bunch of gif's there of smiley on a bike. I couldn't resist this one, it even has a bloodhound running with the bike, just like I do all the time.

Here is the link to the Un Dead race on that forum. http://motorbicycling.com/f35/undeath-race-oct-30-a-23405.html

Hey, that bike looks familiar. See ya there.dnut.gif

Unless my plans change I will not be able to make it

You guys have a good time and stay safe, good luck to everyone.

Plans have changed, I will be there. Not sure if I will race but I will be there.

That's awesome Evo, yes I will see you there. It will be a day full of fun.

Yay! Great fun even if your bike isn't a "race bike" I had a blast just running last spring on a slow commuter. Still beat the slower gas bikes with an ordinaly aotema kit so bring it and you will still not be slowest. Got lapped by the fast guys, but I won't be lapped by anybody this time  !

Ebikekit is donating a motor, so I'll be able to offer 27 mph demo rides on a 48v ebike. 8)

Thanks a bunch E-Bikekit!

I have some more batteries coming too. :D

Come on FR31, race anyway. We don't have any sponsors either, so we will be on our commuters. It's all about the fun! I don't think I would have a chance of winning just want to go and participate. However, I would like to get (Evoforce bike build 3) done enough for the race, but I don't know if I have enough time to "get er done". Sure would like to though, 72 volts 20 amp hours with Crystalyte 5304 cruiser. Maybe I should put on the 5303 racer for the race. Here I always thought motorcycle racing was too dangerous of a sport for me and now at my age I am going to be racing a e-bike.

I ordered the trophies last night, could not afford anything fancy but at least we have something for the winners. I could only afford 3 trophies for 1,2 & 3rd. So if we have classes not sure what to do about that other then ask the racers to pitch in for a cash prize.

I was not planning on racing because I am the one running the show this time, Spooky Tooth is overwhelmed right now and they asked me to organize and run the race for them. I thought maybe there might be a conflict of interest. Plus...so many have been crying that I am cheating using the BoXer.

But, what can I say, the competitor in me wants to race and defend my title
I keep saying I am not going to race but I am sure once I get there you won't be able to keep me off the track.

Maybe FR31 you could ask a non-racer to help out so you could race.

Hopefully soon, some ebikes will be there that make that cheating with the boxer problem go away. But there is more going on there than just the motor, I've seen you in the corners. Not to mention that the bike itself is just a tad better than a beach cruiser with a motor on it. If nothing else, run a heat race to show who the real winner should have been. 8)

Thanks a bunch for putting the race together for us, I know it's a bunch of work. We don't care if the trophies are from goodwill, it's the bragging after the race that counts.

Looks like I will be there, unless I get scheduled to work (hopefully not, asked for it off), or something goes awry with the carpooling.

Still gotta fix a bike to ride, though. Considering sticking a hubmotor on the front of CrazyBike2 just so it moves under power (drivetrain is still too whacked for the powerchair motor to work). Lots more interesting a bike than DGA is. :)

I'm bringing a second bike, with an Ebikekit rear motor on it as a loaner ride for the gassers to ride. You could do some laps on it for sure. The seat will be a bit low, set for my wife. Low seats are good in a race anyway. I'll have two pingbatteries for it, so there will be plenty of power for you to ride it.

'sounds like y'all should just perform an exhibition heat? demo eBikes and not run into the conflict interest and battery/weight limitations? 'bet some gassers wanna test/play too?

dogman - wish i could help with the lipo but i kinda need what i got. maybe hit HK up with endorsement proposal? perhaps if several "good" customers put-in a good word for you? what little it would cost them would garner tremendous domestic branding coupled with flyer/catalog distribution and product outreach? by now they're surely aware of the RC/eBike community connection(s)?

y'all have sold me, i'm gonna attend one of these someday. eventually, all motor racing will probably be performed via cleaner, safer and quieter energy. in a perfect world, entertainment should not grossly pollute and/or consume irreplaceable natural resources. enjoy!!!

One more shipment from HK, and I will have plenty of batteries now. Enough for a heat race, and the main without any charging. I got some faster chargers too, so I can take a few laps of practice and recharge in an hour. I'm getting some stoke on.

I guess the track doesn't have charge outlets for us. I have a huge towable generator but we will already be towing an enclosed trailer containing our bikes. I have not yet secured a smaller portable generator for charging. I am running out of time to try to get my preferred bike race enough ready...Hope I can get it completed enough. My regular commuter is way too tail heavy for tight curves at high speed. My project house is requiring my full attention right now as well as majorly draining my bank acct. My guts are in a knot, can't sleep, antiacid. But I am looking forward to going and having fun with the other racers. :D Whoooo Hooooo....

There are a couple outlets, but they are a bit far from the pits. I will bring an 800 watt generator that can run one 5 amp charger. Most of my need to recharge will be filled by a lead acid power supply to run my lipo chargers. 20 ah should be enough for a heat and a main race if you get it done in time.
