I'm not sure if it exists, but I'm looking for a freewheel that can also lock.
So it would freewheel in the same direction that it would pull (when locked).
Does such a thing exist?

There was this one. I'm afraid it's no longer available, though.

There are a few switchable fixed-free hubs.

Does anyone know what this was called? I know there are other brands, but this one seems interesting.

It's not totally clear what you're asking for. You want a hub that freewheels in one direction, but can be configured to freewheel in both directions?

The late Val Kleitz of Seattle used to modify antique Bendix 2-speed hubs to function as shiftable fixed/free hubs. That's now a few degrees removed from practical.

SRAM made a fixed/free single speed hub a few years ago, but it required a dozen or so turns of a screw in the end of the axle to make the transition. They called it "Torpedo", which was doubly confusing, because Sachs (bought earlier by SRAM) had already made a one-speed coaster brake hub and a three-speed hub called Torpedo.

In case you're tempted to find a SRAM Torpedo fixed/free hub for yourself, be advised that they're unreliable crap (like most of what SRAM makes, but even worse).

Interesting. BSA made a shiftable fixed/free 2 speed hub called the 'DP'. There were cables controls to both sides of the hub.
