Perhaps its a liability thing...but i've not seen a factory spec kids ebike...

Anyone know if there is any out there? My kids want an electric scooter...but I'd rather an ebike as they have to pedal ;) And can use it for alot more than the escooter what is only good for perfectly smooth pavement.

Thanks!

At first thought, it would seem a 20" folder would grow with a kid, but then you gotta think of kids jumping off hills and pulling wheelies with these bikes. I think you need a stought 20" frame to hold up to what kids will do, All this folding stuff would just break.

Maybe a Q100H or G310 in a BMX bike. Maybe 24V, which would hold the speed down to about 12-14 mph.

Funny, ya it depends on the age of the kids and maybe the gender...sorry, when I was growing up, only the boys were crazy enough to build ramps and jumps with bikes not built for them. I recall taking a big jump once and after I landed I had my handlebars in my hands, but not attached, when the stem broke in half on the landing. Good times :bigthumb:

You are going to have to look at the bicycle you have, or will buy and get an ebike kit to install on it. Since you want PAS I would suggest the KT lineup and 250W small geared hub.

250W from Leafbike, these are gearless so they are direct drive. They look small though.

Ebike for a kid? Maybe hook up a motor, controller, and dead battery, with regen "braking" on all of the time. Then they can ride around charging your battery?

Here's one I made for my boy.

My daughter had this bike for her 8th birthday, 2 years ago.
It is a Coyote Super Fat 20 with 1000w rear DD Hubmotor, KT 25amp controller, KT LCD3 display and 15ah 48v battery pack.
Built by a small shop in Bangkok, Thailand and delivered to our home in Thailand. Cost is about 18,000 Thai baht complete, not including fenders rear rack and a few other goodies I added myself.
Bike has been fantastic and 100% reliable in 2 years of use.

I don’t know. This could depend of where you are living, so please take it or leave it.

I personnally, don’t let kids ride until they are 14. I mean horses when I had young kids, but with ebikes I’d feel the same.

I think they deserve to grow working out their way, and it is much better teaching them good riding habits at 14, not having to get rid of the bad ones they had developed.
