I was not able to find a topic like mine, sorry if I missed it.
I have an old Taiwan Cyclone BLDC middrive system.
Its 24V 350/500W (arguable) with built in controller ( inside motor behind gear train )
This system has worked well for me for many years.
I mainly ride flatland inter-urban, the motor is used as assist only.
I had to repair the FET's once and never got the PAS to work ( so it's disconnected
Now the pcb has gotten damaged and I want to replace the controller with an external control.
I prepared the motor by removing all components on the pcb, leaving Halls and bringing leads out.
This gives me +5 gnd Hu Hv Hw U V W and 2 wires for stator temp sensor.
The motor is 120 edegrees and the Halls work ok.
I have very limited budget and am retired in upstate Thailand.
My old hall throttle twist grip and 12AH 24V LiFePo4 pack work well too.
I <think> I need a BLDC controller 24V 500W with suitable throttle
PAS and displays are very optional.
When i search for 24V 500W BLDC controllers
I find may small pcb units that have no hall inputs ( i think for rc planes)
I find BLDC spindle drives for small cnc machines ( eg WS55-220 )
I also find typical extruded aluminum boxes with octopus of cables for ebikes.
I discount the small rc plane pcbs as they have not enough FETs and no Hall inputs.
( methinks actual halls is better than extrapolating rotor position becuz its already there -
The BLDC spindle controller looks feasible,
but was designed for normal operation of
very high rpm motors with light(comparatively) loads.
Are they worth trying?
They are nice neat and small ( and logical to me, an ex-cnc repaiman )

I have found the classical e-bike drives and consider this package from aliexpress,
24V 500W kit with bigger LCD display (60 bucks shipped here)

and will use my existing twist grip hall throttle and existing battery

can I use a spindle driver
