Sevcon Gen4 model designations?

Anyone know if some Gen4 are specialized in hardware?

I have some S4-sevcon 634a83203
Also S6 that have been tested with both induction motors and PMAC. - 634a85203

Would the "203" relate to encoder type?

I have a chance to buy S4s - 634a83310

The S6 were matched to 8kw PMAC.
If the S4 will work on 80v to run a 8kw induction motor, I may not need the S6.
Will all Gen4 models run induction motors using AB encoder?

AFAIK, all the available generations of Sevcon have versions for different encoder types, and probably different motor types as well, but I don't know how to tell which ones can use which encoders and motors.

I know the one I have here was made / setup for whatever motor/encoder was used on the Zero it came from, probably one of the "ZF-75" series. But I don't know what that is; I do know I can't use it for any of the motors I've got without buying the programming hardware and software to change it's settings, which I have very little idea how to do, even if I had that kind of money. :/

if it helps any; I don't remember if the controllers are discussed in detail or not. I know there's a thread that does discuss the sevcon encoder stuff, pretty sure I posted a question in it too, but I can't find it at the moment.

That's correct, 203 for a Size 6 Gen 4 relates to the encoding type, 202 & 203 support Sin/Cos encoding.

All are AB ready?
That is all I need for now.

Yep thats right, all of them support AB and UVW, only certain models support Sin/Cos

I have a couple sources for new and used gen4 80v, but they have different model numbers.
I've been using "203" , but another source is not.

I tried loading dld for my 80v controllers into 48v controller and it failed multiple times.
Somehow I must have got it in run mode. Solid green led.
Attempting dld dl now returns "failed to enter preop". (Or such)
Backdoor for solid led fix, does not work.
Any backdoor to get back into preop mode?
May be moot, as it won't accept a dld file in any case.

About 10 of my used gen4 s4 80v are "207".
Will they do the same encoders as my 203s?
All came from e-bikes using Pmac motors.
