You could probably use the simple 4QD or 2QD controller as a brain, perhaps using it's output FETs as drivers for stuff too large for the regular drivers to handle, if necessary, otherwise just leaving it's FETs off and wiring to the otuput stage.

I have a bare-board version here (of the 2QD? cant' remember) (no casing) that I used on CrazyBike2 to drive powerchair motors. It's about twice as big as the BobC SMD Lebowski brainboard, and somewhere I should have the schematic file so you can determine if it would work beforehand.

EDIT: found a pic of mine on my old blog, it is a 2QD:

leave the fets and heatsink and main cap off, since you wouldn't need them, and it would fit inside an IMA, etc. No idea how well it would drive IGBTs for deadtime and such. Kiwifiat might be able to tell you based on the below:

It's similar to the one here, which is a 2qd, but does 4-quadrant drive.

I also have some of the old MC33039 chips that can do brushed or brushless motor control if you wanted to adapt Jeremy Harris' simple bldc controller board
